7ICT infrastructureAfter investing in computers in recent years, schools are nowconcentrating on procuring interactive whiteboards. Schoolmanagers indicate that the number of interactive whiteboards is setto increase in the years ahead. Schools are also investing in fasterand wireless Internet connections.This chapter describes the status of the ICT infrastructure based on threeindicators:1. Computers (Section 7.1)2. Interactive whiteboards (Section 7.2)3. Internet connections (Section 7.3)
7 - ICT infrastructure7.1 ComputersAt the moment, the ratio of computers to pupils in primary, secondary andvocational education is one to five (Figure 7.1). This is the same as lastyear. Schools differ considerably in this respect; at 95% of schools in allthree sectors, the ratio varies between one and ten pupils per computer.Schools replace 15% of their computers every year.
