community learning center in Fair Oaks, Ca<strong>Part</strong>-<strong>Time</strong> <strong>Foundation</strong> <strong>Studies</strong><strong>Rudolf</strong> <strong>Steiner</strong> <strong>College</strong> has responded to requests from many individuals asking for an opportunityto begin teacher training or parent education in their local communities—in a way that supportstheir work schedule and/or their family responsibilities. Called Community Learning Centers, theseeducational opportunities extend from Colorado to Arizona, and California to Montreal, Canada.Courses offered in these centers fulfill prerequisites for enrollment in <strong>Rudolf</strong> <strong>Steiner</strong> <strong>College</strong> TeacherEducation Programs. Betty Staley, M.A., will be directing the new Community Learning Center at <strong>Rudolf</strong><strong>Steiner</strong> <strong>College</strong>, Fair Oaks campus.The Community Learning Center focuses on developing a profound understanding of the nature of thehuman being and cultivating self-knowledge through strengthening innate capacities of the student.The program awakens independent thinking and healthy judgment about the deeper issues of humanlife, schools powers of perception, enriches artistic faculties, develops social sensitivity, and strengthenscapacities for practical life.This 18-unit course takes place in three 4-day intensive sessions each year—over three years. Thoseplanning to become teachers are required to take three years of the Summer Teacher EducationProgram—for three weeks each year. They may focus on Early Childhood, Grades, or High SchoolTeacher Education, or Handwork in the Subject Teachers Program.2010–2011 Course Dates:Friday, October 8, 3:30 pm – Monday, October 11, 3:30 pmFriday, February 25, 3:30 pm – Monday, February 28, 3:30 pmFriday, May 13, 3:30 pm – Monday, May 16, 3:30 pmReadings with discussion questions and/or artistic work will be carried out by small cohort groups either inperson, on-line, or by phone during the academic year.
