Command Description<br />

The CONSOLE stage specifies one of the following actions:<br />

v Displays messages on the screen and write them to the output stream.<br />

v Reverses the held status of a message (using the DELETE option).<br />

Termination Conditions<br />

CONSOLE terminates when the input stream is disconnected.<br />

Operand Descriptions<br />

CLEAR<br />

Specifies to clear the screen immediately be<strong>for</strong>e the first message is displayed.<br />

DELETE<br />

Specifies to remove a held message status. The message on the screen is<br />

immediately reverted to the color and highlighting of normal messages and is<br />

removed when the screen is refreshed.<br />

DUMP<br />

Specifies that each line of each message is to be presented in memory dump<br />

<strong>for</strong>mat, showing HEX and EBCDIC representations.<br />

LOCK<br />

Specifies to lock the screen. Three asterisks (***) are displayed on the indicator<br />

line immediately be<strong>for</strong>e the first message is displayed. After the screen is<br />

locked, normal <strong>NetView</strong> autowrap rules apply.<br />

ONLY<br />

Specifies that messages are to be displayed but not held or exposed. For<br />

example, use the ONLY option when redisplaying messages brought into the<br />

pipeline with the HELDMSG stage.
