Command Description<br />

The VTAM stage runs the VTAM commands DISPLAY, VARY, and MODIFY in the<br />

local domain.<br />

The VTAM stage can be used anywhere in the pipeline. If the VTAM stage has an<br />

argument, it must be the first stage. If the VTAM stage has no argument, it cannot<br />

be the first stage and any input stream other than DISPLAY, VARY, orMODIFY<br />

commands causes the following message to be inserted into the output stream:<br />

DSI071I INVALID VTAM COMMAND<br />

The VTAM stage arranges that the same timeout and termination conditions that<br />

are specified <strong>for</strong> a pipeline apply when running the VTAM commands at the<br />

remote domain. The following conditions are considered transferable:<br />

v T<strong>OS</strong>TRING<br />

v TAKE (first)<br />

v NLOCATE<br />

v LOCATE<br />

v CORRWAIT<br />

Multiple conditions can be transferred, if no other stage intervenes.<br />

Termination Conditions<br />

When specified as a first stage, the VTAM stage terminates when it finishes<br />

processing its output. As a subsequent stage, the VTAM stage terminates when the<br />

input stream disconnects.<br />

Operand Descriptions<br />

cmdtext<br />

This is the command <strong>for</strong> VTAM. Only DISPLAY, MODIFY, and VARY are<br />

supported.<br />

If VTAM is the first stage, cmdtext is required.<br />

If VTAM is not the first stage, cmdtext must not be used. The VTAM stage<br />

extracts the first line of a message in the input stream as the command and
