Command Description<br />

The SUBSYM stage takes messages in the pipeline and substitutes any MVS or<br />

user-defined system symbolics, including the &DOMAIN symbolic supplied with<br />

the <strong>NetView</strong> product, found in those messages <strong>for</strong> their system values.<br />

SUBSYM terminates when the input stream or the output stream disconnects.<br />

Usage Notes<br />

PIPE SUBSYM<br />

v SUBSYM cannot be the first or last stage.<br />

v Substitution is per<strong>for</strong>med on the &DOMAIN symbolic, unless substitution was<br />

disabled when the <strong>NetView</strong> program was started. For MVS-defined and<br />

user-defined system symbolics, substitution is not per<strong>for</strong>med under the<br />

following conditions:<br />

– If you are not running on an MVS system<br />

– If you are running on an MVS system be<strong>for</strong>e MVS Version 5 Release 2<br />

– If substitution was disabled when the <strong>NetView</strong> program was started<br />

– If you have not defined an MVS system symbolic on your MVS system<br />
