EDIT terminates when the input stream and the output streams are disconnected.<br />

Operand Descriptions<br />

Common Operands and Keywords<br />

The following operands and keywords are common to a number of orders.<br />

hexstring<br />

Specifies a hexadecimal string. A hexstring can be in either of the following<br />

<strong>for</strong>ms:<br />

'nnnnnn'X<br />

X'nnnnnn'<br />

Where each n is a number in the range of 0-9oracharacter in the range of A<br />

- F. An even number of n values, up to 254, must be specified.<br />

Be<strong>for</strong>e processing, the hexstring is converted to the corresponding character<br />

string.<br />

When used as an input order operand, hexstring acts as a literal to be used as<br />

input.<br />

position.length<br />

The starting position and number of characters to be processed.<br />

Position indicates the starting character within the line. By default, position is<br />

counted from the first character of the line. For input orders, the starting point<br />

<strong>for</strong> the count can be modified by the global orders.
