Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL)Acute lymphocytic leukemia, also called acutelymphoblastic leukemia, is a type of cancer thatstarts from white blood cells in the bone marrow. Anumber of recurring cytogenetic abnormalities areassociated with distinct immunologic phenotypesof ALL and characteristic outcomes. The ETV6/AML1fusion arising from the translocation t(12;21)(p13;q22)has been associated with a good outcome; the BCR/ABL fusion of t(9;22)(q34;q11), rearrangements of theMLL gene (11q23), and abnormalities of the short armof chromosomes 9 involving the tumor suppressorgenes p16 (INK4A) have a poor prognosis.ON TEL/AML t(12;21) FusionThe t(12;21), a cryptic translocation rarely observed byconventional cytogenetics, was first identified by fluorescencein situ hybridization (FISH). In ALL blasts, this translocationfuses the 5’ part of the TEL (ETV6) gene with almost the entireAML1 (CBFA2) gene, producing the chimeric transcript ETV6-CBFA2. The t(12;21) (p13;q22) has also been identified as themost frequent chromosomal abnormality in childhood ALL,affecting 20% to 25% of B-lineage cases. The TEL/AML t(12;21) specific DNA probe is optimized todetect the reciprocal translocation t(12;21) (p13;q22) in adual-color, dual-fusion assay.Cat.# KBI-10401 TEL/AML t(12;21) Fusion12p13.2RH 39900D21S325490 KB21q22.1570 KBETV6(TEL)21RUNX1(AML1)RH 76656360 KBRH 43237600 KB12Oncology Probes - Hematology ProbesTEL/AML t(12;21) Fusion probe hybridized to a normalmetaphase (2R2G).Literature:Romana et al, 1995, Blood, 85: 3662-3670.Ordering information Color Tests Cat#ON TEL/AML t(12;21) Fusion red/green 10 KBI-1040132
