ON p53 (17p13) / SE 17The p53 tumor suppressor gene at 17p13, has beenshown to be implicated in the control of normal cellularproliferation, differentiation, and apoptosis. Allelic loss,usually by deletion, and inactivation of p53 have beenreported in numerous tumor types and are associated withpoor prognosis in CLL.The p53 (17p13) specific DNA probe is optimized todetect copy numbers of the p53 gene region at 17p13. Thechromosome 17 satellite enumeration probe (SE 17) atD17Z1 is included to facilitate chromosome identification.ON ATM (11q22) / SE 11Chromosome 11q22.3-23.1 deletions involving the ataxiateleangiectasiamutated (ATM) locus are detected at diagnosisin 15-20% of cases of B-cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia(CLL) and are associated with a relatively aggressive disease.Loss of the 11q22-23 region, where the ataxia-telangiectasiamutated (ATM) gene is located is also one of the mostfrequent secondary chromosomal aberrations in mantle celllymphoma.The ATM (11q22.3) specific DNA probe is optimized to detectcopy numbers of the ATM gene region at region 11q22.3.
