Organizer for Day 2: Deepening Your Thinking—Some Key Ethical Considerations to Take into Account1Activity 4: Generating a Range <strong>of</strong> ResponsesEstimated Time: 15–20 minutesBefore class, create a poster on chart paper titled “Assessment <strong>of</strong>Ethical Acceptability.”Tell students they will now discuss last night’s homework.Give students green, red, and yellow stickers (or markers).Have students refer to their filled-out Round 1 <strong>of</strong> Master 6.3 as they, in turns,place the appropriate colors <strong>of</strong> stickers on the chart paper.Ask students to look at the resulting pattern on the chart. Ask, “Which cases havethe greatest numbers <strong>of</strong> stickers with the same color?”Ask students to explain why they made the choices they did for the cases with thegreatest number <strong>of</strong> green stickers, and then <strong>of</strong> red stickers.Call attention to unpopular opinions. Tell students that the sign <strong>of</strong> a healthyethical discussion is the expression <strong>of</strong> a range <strong>of</strong> views that concernedstakeholders can examine and analyze with equal scrutiny and respect.Activity 5: Assessing Harms and BenefitsEstimated Time: 15 minutesSelect a case at either end <strong>of</strong> the Master 6.3 chart. For a case at the top, asksomeone who gave it a green sticker why he or she did so.
