Served with the regiment during itsfirst visit to the Peninsula ;was left behind sick in Portugal in 1808,and commanded the company formed of men left in hospital; wasactively employed in the operations which led to the capture of Oportoin 1809; was present at the battle of Talavera, on the 27th July,1809, when he was taken prisoner, but managed eventually to effecthis escape iu August, and after suffering great privations, rejoined thearmy under the Duke of Wellington. Served with the regiment atToulouse, where he was wounded. Was present at Waterloo. Retiredin 1825.Warburton, Augustus. From f>7th Foot. Major, 18th December,1806. Had previously served in the campaignon the Sutlej (medal) in 1845, and was attached to the 53rd, and withthem in the engagements at Buddiwal and Aliwal ;was present withhis own regiment, the 73rd Bengal Native Infantry, at the battle ofSobraon. Also engaged with the Cape Mounted Rifles in the actionagainst the Boers at Boemplaats, in 1848. Captain, 21st May, 1850.Retired, 1854.Warren, Lionel Smith. Ensign, 23rd November, 1852.
