Subsequently served with the 72nd in the advance by theKurum Valley under General Sir Frederick Roberts, V.C., and waspresent at the battle of Charasiah, in the Afghan War of 1878-79.Died at Chelsea Hospital while holding the appointment of Captain ofInvalids, June, 1890. A tablet to his memory was erected at Chelseahis brother officers of the 72nd and 91st.Hospital byTottenham, Arthur Ely H. Sub-lieutenant and lieutenant,1st February, 1873.
