To 86th Foot, 22nd March, 1864.Fox-Pitt, "William. Augustus Lane. Second-lieutenant, 22ndFebruary, 1879. Served in <strong>the</strong> latter part <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Zulu War, 1879(medal with clasp). To <strong>the</strong> Grenadier Guards in 1880, with which heserved in Egypt.Power, Robert. Ensign, 17th September, 1812 ; lieutenant, 5thJanuary, 1815. To 73rd Foot, 8th February, 1816.Power, "William John. Surgeon, 1846. Had previously servedwith <strong>the</strong> 7th Dragoon Guards in <strong>the</strong> expedition against <strong>the</strong> insurgentBoers at <strong>the</strong> Cape <strong>of</strong> Good Hope in 1845, and in <strong>the</strong> Kaffir War <strong>of</strong>1846-47 <strong>the</strong> latter part <strong>of</strong> which as surgeon <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> reserve battalion<strong>91st</strong>. Died in England, 7th September, 1849.Prevost, William. Ensign, 9th March, 1867. Served with<strong>the</strong> regiment in India. Lieutenant, 13th May, 1870; <strong>ca</strong>ptain, 2ndMarch, 1878. Served in <strong>the</strong> Zulu War <strong>of</strong> 1879 was; present at <strong>the</strong>battle <strong>of</strong> Ginginhlovo and relief <strong>of</strong> Ekowe (medal with clasp). Wasinvalided home shortly afterwards. To <strong>the</strong> Commissariat and TransportStaff Department, 1st July, 1880.Purcell, John. Quarter-master, 1871. Had previously servedwith <strong>the</strong> 65th Foot throughout <strong>the</strong> New Zealand wars, from May,1847, including actions at Wanganui, skirmish at St. John's Bush in1847 ;attack and <strong>ca</strong>pture <strong>of</strong> Pah at Kotai, expedition to Warea,attack and <strong>ca</strong>pture <strong>of</strong> Pahs, 20th to 30th April, expedition to Kilukihi,attack and <strong>ca</strong>pture <strong>of</strong> Pahs, llth and 12th October, sapping operationsto Rifle Pits at Huirangi in 1860; action at Huirangi, sappingoperations at Rifle Pits and Pah at Pukiangiori with repulse <strong>of</strong> sortie,storm and <strong>ca</strong>pture <strong>of</strong> Rifle Pits and Pah at Rangiori, attack and <strong>ca</strong>pture<strong>of</strong> Rangiawhia and Huirini, in 1864 (medal) (1874).Rae, Edward James Somers. Ensign, 29th April, 1847 ;lieutenant, 28th December, 1849 ; <strong>ca</strong>ptain, 5th <strong>of</strong> June, 1855. Servedin <strong>the</strong> Kaffir War <strong>of</strong> 1851-52 (commanded a levy <strong>of</strong> Fingoes); alsoserved in Greece and India with <strong>the</strong> regiment. Retired, 4thNovember, 1859.Rawstorne, John George. From 62nd Foot, with which he hadserved hi <strong>the</strong> Peninsula from August, 1813, to <strong>the</strong> end <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> war, andwas present at <strong>the</strong> battle <strong>of</strong> Or<strong>the</strong>s. Captain, 10th October, 1838.Joined <strong>91st</strong> in 1842. Served in <strong>the</strong> Kaffir War, 1846-47 (medal) ;was wounded at Block Drift, April, 1846. Commanded a detachmebt<strong>of</strong> <strong>91st</strong> under Sir Harry Smith in 1848 against <strong>the</strong> Boers. Served inGreece with <strong>91st</strong>. To 17th Foot, 1858.
