From 4th Light Dragoons, with whichhe served in the Punjaub campaign of 1848-49, including the actionat Ramnuggur (with the charging squadrons), battles of Chillianwallahand Goojerat, crossing of the Chenab, the Jhelum, and the Indus,surrender of the Sikh army at Rawul Pindee, aod pursuit of theAfghans to Peshawur (medal and two clasps). Served towards theclose of the Eastern campaign of 1855-56, with the local rank ofmajor, as commandant of the 7th Regiment of Albanian Cavalry.Captain, 16th October, 1855. Was one of the four officers selected to raise a number ofmen for the regiment in 1804, for which service he was promotedcaptain, 26th October, 1804. Served with the regiment during thePeninsular War ;was severely wounded at Sauroren, 28th July, 1813,from the effects of which he died, 23rd November, 1813. A tabletwas erected to his memory in St. Martin's Church, Lincoln, by hisbrother officers as a mark of their esteem. When St. Martin's Churchwas rebuilt in 1874, the tablet was removed to the new building.Lucas, Samuel H. Lieutenant, 25th April, 1806; captain, 22ndJanuary, 1809. Retired, 1810.Macay, George.
