From the 89th Foot as major to the91st, 29th January, 1870. Was appointed to command the 91st inJanuary, 1876. Was unable to proceed with the regiment to the ZuluWar, in 1879, owing to a tumour having formed in his right foot, fromthe effects of which he subsequently died.
