On <strong>the</strong> 18th a convoy arrived from Tugela,bringing up men's kits and <strong>of</strong>ficers' light baggage.The kit <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> latter, since <strong>the</strong>y had left <strong>the</strong>Tugela, had been limited to ten pounds weight.Tents, however, were not provided, and owingto <strong>the</strong> heavy rains and generalunhealthiness <strong>of</strong><strong>the</strong> plains on <strong>the</strong> coast, sickness be<strong>ca</strong>me prevalent.On <strong>the</strong> 23rd Second-Lieutenants Dickson, Wyllie,and Lane-Fox joined <strong>the</strong> regiment on appointment,bringing with <strong>the</strong>m two sergeants, onecorporal, and four privates from <strong>the</strong> hospital on<strong>the</strong> Lower Tugela.After being seventeen days in <strong>the</strong> Ginginhlovoit<strong>ca</strong>mp, was decided to evacuate it and advanceto a new position about four miles <strong>of</strong>f on <strong>the</strong>Inyezane River, where a fort was commenced(afterwards <strong>ca</strong>lled Fort Chelmsford).
