This tablet was put up with thejoint subscriptionsof officers who had served andwere serving in the corps. It is a handsomemural brass, and bears the following inscription:" To the memoryof Colonel Edward W. C.Wright, C.B., late 91st Highlanders, and DeputyInspector of Eeserve Forces, who died 26thAugust, 1871, aged 57.Captain Wright was thesenior surviving officer of her Majesty's shipBirkenhead, wrecked off the Cape of Good Hopeon 26th February, 1852. For his distinguishedservice on this occasion he was promoted to therank of Major, and awarded a good servicepension. He was engaged in the Kaffir War of1846-47 and 1852-53, for which he was grantedthe medal and promoted for service in the field tothe rank of Lieut.-Colonel. This tablet is erectedby his brother officers, MDCCCLXXIII."In February, at the request of the Eoyal1874.Scottish Academy of Arts, the regiment furnisheda sentry at the entrance of their exhibition, forwhich service the academy presented the regimentwith 10, which sum was expended in a hand-
