Thefollowing day <strong>the</strong> guard returned to Aldershot,where, during<strong>the</strong> drill season,<strong>the</strong> usual routine<strong>of</strong> field-days and o<strong>the</strong>r duties were gone through.In July <strong>the</strong> Queen reviewed <strong>the</strong> troops,and senta complimentary message to <strong>the</strong> general commandingon <strong>the</strong> smart appearance <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> regimentat <strong>the</strong> march past.In August <strong>the</strong> wedding presentwhich <strong>the</strong> menwere to give <strong>the</strong> Princess Louise was completedand forwarded to Inverary,where festivities inconnection with <strong>the</strong> marriage were going on.The Pipe-major with three pipers were sent, at<strong>the</strong> request <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Duke <strong>of</strong> Argyll, to assist at <strong>the</strong>rejoicings.In September <strong>the</strong> regiment receivedorders toproceed to Scotland. They accordinglyleftAldershot on <strong>the</strong> 27th and 30th <strong>of</strong> September,in two detachments, and on arrival were quarteredat Fort George and Aberdeen, having<strong>the</strong> headquarters,consisting <strong>of</strong> eighteen <strong>of</strong>ficers and 382men, at <strong>the</strong> former station, while ten <strong>of</strong>ficers and211 men were quartered at <strong>the</strong> latter.
