9 1ST ARGYLLSHIKE HIGHLANDERS. 229During its stay in Greece, <strong>the</strong> regimenthad 1857.to deplore <strong>the</strong> loss <strong>of</strong> one <strong>of</strong>ficer, PaymasterDalrymple, who was killed by<strong>the</strong> fall <strong>of</strong> hishouse.His remains were buried in <strong>the</strong> plain justoutside <strong>the</strong> town <strong>of</strong> Piraeus, to <strong>the</strong> right <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>road to A<strong>the</strong>ns, in <strong>the</strong> same placeas nineteennon-commissioned <strong>of</strong>ficers and men, who had diedsince <strong>the</strong> regiment landed. The graves weremarked by marble slabs and monuments ; and, onleaving, <strong>the</strong> place was committed to <strong>the</strong> <strong>ca</strong>re <strong>of</strong><strong>the</strong> lo<strong>ca</strong>l authorities.On <strong>the</strong> 18th <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> month head-quarters and<strong>the</strong> right wing embarked on board H.M.S.
