Accordingly, on <strong>the</strong> 4th <strong>the</strong> 18.39.head-quarters, grenadiers, No. 2, and lightinfantry companies embarked for <strong>the</strong> Cape <strong>of</strong>Good Hope, leaving three companies behindunder <strong>the</strong> command <strong>of</strong> Captain Blackwell. Thetransport with <strong>the</strong> head-quarters on boardanchored inAlgoa Bay on <strong>the</strong> 28th <strong>of</strong> June, but<strong>the</strong> men were unable to land, on account <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>surf, until <strong>the</strong> 3rd <strong>of</strong> July, when <strong>the</strong>y en<strong>ca</strong>mpednear Port Elizabeth. The head-quarters marchedto <strong>the</strong> Zwaitkops Eiver <strong>the</strong> next day,and en<strong>ca</strong>mped,arriving on JulyNothing8th at Grahamstown.<strong>of</strong> note occurred in connection with <strong>the</strong>regiment for <strong>the</strong> first two years <strong>of</strong> its stay at<strong>the</strong> Cape.
