Displaying Iterative OutputDisplaying Iterative OutputWhen you set 'Display' to 'iter' in options, the optimization functionsdisplay iterative output in the Command Window. This output, whichprovides information about the progress of the algorithm, is displayed incolumns with descriptive headings. For example, if you run fminunc with'Display' set to 'iter', the output headings areGradient'sIteration Func-count f(x) Step-size infinity-normThe following sections list the output headings and describe the informationdisplayed below them:• “Most Common Output Headings” on page 2-81• “Function-Specific Output Headings” on page 2-82Note An optimization function does not return all of the output headings, described in the following tables, each time you call it. Which output headingsare returned depends on the algorithm the optimization function uses fora particular problem. Most Common Output HeadingsThe following table lists some common output headings of iterative output.Output HeadingIteration or IterFunc-count orF-countxf(x)Step-sizeNorm of stepInformation DisplayedIteration numberNumber of function evaluationsCurrent point for the algorithmCurrent function valueStep size in the current search directionNorm of the current step2-81
