AIRWORTHINESS INSPECTORSHANDBOOK-FOR NCAR 145/66/147/M58.4 To hold a position with appropriate responsibilities means the airworthinessreview staff will have a position within the CAAN that authorizes that person tosign on behalf that CAAN.58.5 A person in the CAAN carrying out airworthiness reviews or airworthinesscertificate renewal inspections, prior to the date <strong>of</strong> entry into force <strong>of</strong> <strong>Part</strong>-Mwill be considered as complying with Para 58.59. <strong>Airworthiness</strong> review by the CAAN (AMC M.B.902 (b) (1))For all aircraft used in commercial air transport and any other aircraft, other thanballoons, above 2730 kg MTOM, formal aeronautical maintenance training meanstraining (internal or external) supported by evidence on the following subjects:- Relevant parts <strong>of</strong> continuing airworthiness regulations.- Relevant parts <strong>of</strong> operational requirements and procedures, if applicable.- Knowledge <strong>of</strong> the internal procedures for continuing airworthiness.- Knowledge <strong>of</strong> a relevant sample <strong>of</strong> the type(s) <strong>of</strong> aircraft gained through aformalised training course.These courses will be at least at a level equivalent to <strong>Part</strong>-6660. General Familiarisation Appendix <strong>II</strong>I Level 1“Relevant sample” means that these courses will cover typical systems embodied inthose aircraft being within the scope <strong>of</strong> approval AMC M.B.902 (b)(2) <strong>Airworthiness</strong>review by the CAAN For all balloons and any other aircraft <strong>of</strong> 2730 Kg MTOM andbelow, not used in commercial air transport, appropriate aeronautical maintenancetraining means demonstrated knowledge <strong>of</strong> the following subjects:- Relevant parts <strong>of</strong> continuing airworthiness regulations.- Relevant parts <strong>of</strong> operational requirements and procedures, if applicable.61. Knowledge <strong>of</strong> the internal procedures for continuing airworthiness- Knowledge <strong>of</strong> a relevant sample <strong>of</strong> the type(s) <strong>of</strong> aircraft gained throughtraining and/or work experience. Such knowledge will be at least at a levelequivalent to <strong>Part</strong>-66 Appendix <strong>II</strong>I Level 1 General Familiarisation.“Relevant sample” means that these courses will cover typical systems embodied inthose aircraft being within the scope <strong>of</strong> approval. This knowledge may bedemonstrated by documented evidence or by an assessment performed by the CAAN.This assessment will be recorded.62. <strong>Airworthiness</strong> review by the CAAN (AMC M.B.902 (c))The minimum content <strong>of</strong> the airworthiness review staff record will be:July 2012 Page 83
