OVERVIEW OF THE GROUP2InnovationRemote Operated Vehicles (ROV)The ROVs in the <strong>Bourbon</strong> Subsea Services fl eet are multi-purposeand highly fl exible robots falling into three main categories:3 ROVs for light observation;3 compact ROVs used for instrumental surveys and lightconstruction work at depths of between 600 and 2,000 meters;and3 latest-generation ROVs of the UHD (Ultra Heavy Duty) and HD(Heavy Duty) “Work Class” type, which enable crews to workon all types of sites at depths of up to 4,000 meters with greatstability and precision.3.3.2 Engineering and management servicesBOURBON also offers recognized IMR project engineering expertisefor oil fi elds in operation (replacement of undersea connections, wellheads, cables, etc.). This activity is complementary to the provisionof vessels and robots, enabling BOURBON to establish itself as asingle provider for preparing and performing operations required onoffshore fi elds. This service includes both the planning of proceduresand the provision of specialized personnel to manage the operationsin question.4. INNOVATIONInnovation is at the heart of BOURBON’s model and strategy. Thisapproach is refl ected in technological concepts, new techniques andoperational innovations.BOURBON keeps a constant watch on technological developments,supports research and development at its main subcontractors,and is involved in innovative developments such as French marineclusters.BOURBON enables its clients to benefi t from the reliable performanceof its <strong>Bourbon</strong> Liberty 100 and 200 series.These vessels share many innovative characteristics: reducedfuel consumption, a 30% greater cargo capacity than vessels ofcomparable size, shorter time taken for operations and excellentmaneuverability. Finally, a high level of availability can be guaranteedbecause the maintenance of these modern vessels is facilitated bystandardization. All these assets generate signifi cant productivitygains on operations conducted for clients, effi ciently and over thelong term.BOURBON’s support vessels are set apart by the installation of hightechequipment, such as dynamic positioning, which is essential tothe safety of anchoring and supply operations. BOURBON has alsochosen to equip the majority of its support vessels with the moreenvironmentally-friendly option of diesel-electric propulsion.As part of the “BOURBON 2015 Leadership Strategy” plan, theconstruction of new series of vessels is continuing:3 the AHTS <strong>Bourbon</strong> Liberty 300 which is an extension of the<strong>Bourbon</strong> Liberty 200 with its “Clean Design” version (no pollutingproduct is in direct contact with the hull, thus minimizing the riskof pollution in case of loss of integrity of the fl oater);3 the PSV <strong>Bourbon</strong> Liberty 150, an extension on the <strong>Bourbon</strong>Liberty 100 with even greater cargo capacity;3 a series of 3,600 ton-deadweight PSVs, also meeting “CleanDesign” standards.BOURBON - 2011 Registration Document 13
