BID NOTICEBids are invited from the reputed manufacturers and their own authorized agents for the supplyof Galvanized and Pre-stretched Steel Wire Ropes of required standards and specifications(look details into our website http://www.helvetasnepal.org.np). The diameter and estimatedquantity of steel wire rope to be procured are :l2J32mml2J40mm32500 meters4800 metersThe following conditions are to be met by the bidders :1. Detailed Form/bid document will be distributed by the Helvetas Nepal from ~J..Ylyto 6th August 2010 during the office hours, on submission of bank deposit slip of NC2,000.00 (non refundable) in our a/c. no. 11025 00 at Nepal Investment Bank Ltd., alongwith the authorization letter from the manufacturer for collection of bid document.2. All offers must be submitted on or before 13th August 2010. The offers has to besubmitted in a sealed envelop and addressed to :The Programme DirectorHelvetas / NepalG.P.O.Box - 688, Dhobighat, LalitpurKathmandu, Nepal Fax : 977-1-55311094. The bids will be opened in 16th August, 2010 .5. The price must be quoted in Euro ( € ) exclusive of all taxes and duties payable insideNepal. The price is to be quoted on C.I.F. basis per meter of cable upto the destinationof delivery point at Butwal, Nepal.6. Each offer must be accompanied with a sum of € 10,000.- (Euro ten thousand) only asbid bond in the form of bank guarantee or bank draft in favour of Helvetas Nepal froma bank based in Kathmandu, Nepal.7. Helvetas Nepal reserves the right to accept or reject offer(s ) partially or fully withoutassigning any reason whatsoever. Helvetas Nepal is free to award the contract to thelowest bidder or else. The decision of Helvetas Nepal will be final and binding in thisregard.8. Helvetas Nepal also reserves the right to award the contract fully or partly to a singlebidder or to different bidders.9. SpecificationWire Rope are to comply with specifications as prescribed herein:IS 1835 - 1977: Steel Wire RopesIS 6594 - 1977: Technical Supply Conditions for Wire Rope and StrandsIS 9282 - 1979: Specification of Wire Ropes and Strands for Suspension BridgeIS 9182 -1979: Specification for Lubrication ofWire Strands & RopesoOrISO 2048 - 2004: Steel Wire Ropes for General purposes - Minimum Requirementsand it's Normative ReferencesOrEquivalent other Codes.Important Note: In any case, in addition to above Codes and Standa rd s, all therequirements as specified below shall be fulfilled.Lubrication:oLubrication should be non-drying and non-bituminous type confirming to IS : 9182-1979 orISO 4346 or other equivalent Codes. It should withsand storing at open atmosphere in touchwith the ground and in inundation condition for a long duration and should prevent any kindof rust. Lubrication must be applied during manufacturing of the strands as well as duringmanufacturung of the rope. Lubribcation should withstand temperature up to 70°C (DropPoint).Pre-stretching:Pre-stretching should be done by cyclic loading of the rope to 10 % to 40 % of the MinimumBreaking Load. Pre-streching should be performed in the following method :1 51 cycle - stretching with loading of 5 % of Minimum Breaking Load.2 nd cycle - with loading of 10 % of Minimum Breaking Load at least 5 cycle.yd cycle - with loading of20 % of Minimum Breaking Loadtill elongation stabilizes.4 th cycle - with loading of40 % of Minimum Breaking Load till elongation stabilizes.Checking - Check if the elongation is stabilizes at 35 % of Minimum Breaking Load.
