196 Children’s Needs – Parenting CapacityYoung people were classified as having severe needs when social workers identifiedunmet developmental needs in three or more of the five dimensions. The data suggestteenagers are likely to experience approximately the same degree of overall difficultyregardless of whether they are living with parents with alcohol or drug problems,domestic violence or with parents with learning disabilities. Results show that 42%of adolescents living with parental substance misuse, 48% of those living withdomestic violence, and 54% of those living with a parent with a learning disabilityhad severe developmental needs.
