VR101S Voltage Event Recorder SystemSet up, plug in, download, and analyzeHomes, offices, hospitals, and factoriesdepend on electronic devices. Andelectronic devices depend on goodpower quality. The Fluke VR101S is theperfect system for catching sags, swells, transients, outages and frequencyvariations on line voltage at receptacles, where the most sensitive loads areconnected. The VR101S is a starter systemthat includes a compact VR101 eventrecorder, an optical interface cable, andEventView software that turns your PCinto a power quality reporting tool.Additional VR101 event recorders canbe purchased individually, so you canmonitor several voltage conditions atmultiple locations at once.To set up a VR101 event recorder, just enter the event capture limitparameters on your PC and load theminto the recorder. EventView softwareand the optical interface cable make iteasy. Then plug the recorder into theoutlet you need to test, and leave it—there’s no need to leave a computerhooked up. The compact recorder storesany voltage event that goes outside yourlimits. The VR101 recorder can storeup to as many as 4000 events and aflashing LED tells you when eventshave been captured. The recorder alsochecks for proper hot and neutral wiringfor any grounded outlet. To get data out of the recorder, hookit back up to your computer. EventViewsoftware can download a completehistory of the events that occurredwhile the recorder was plugged intothe receptacle. The software lets youbuild a detailed report of sags, swells, transients, outages and frequencyvariations with time-stamps anddurations.Your PC communicates to the VR101through an optical interface cable. Thismeans the PC and VR101 are insulatedfrom each other for safety. The eventrecorder is self-powered by a 7-yearlithium battery, so it is not affected bypower outages. Each VR101 Recorderhas its own real-time clock for timestampingvoltage events and isidentified by a unique factory-assignedcode. With their clocks and ID codes, multiple recorders can be placedthroughout a facility to give a completepicture of power quality.
