IMPORTANT NOTES291aIn addition to the items listed under “USING THE UNIT SAFELY” on page 2, please read and observe the following:Placement354a• Do not expose the unit to direct sunlight, place it near devicesthat radiate heat, leave it inside an enclosed vehicle, or otherwisesubject it to temperature extremes. Excessive heat can deform ordiscolor the unit.355b• When moved from one location to another where the temperatureand/or humidity is very different, water droplets (condensation)may form inside the unit. Damage or malfunction mayresult if you attempt to use the unit in this condition. Therefore, before using the unit, you must allow it to stand for severalhours, until the condensation has completely evaporated.356• Do not allow rubber, vinyl, or similar materials to remain on theunit for long periods of time. Such objects can discolor orotherwise harmfully affect the finish.Maintenance401a• For everyday cleaning wipe the unit with a soft, dry cloth or onethat has been slightly dampened with water. To removestubborn dirt, use a cloth impregnated with a mild, non-abrasivedetergent. Afterwards, be sure to wipe the unit thoroughly witha soft, dry cloth.402• Never use benzine, thinners, alcohol or solvents of any kind, toavoid the possibility of discoloration and/or deformation.Additional Precautions553• Use a reasonable amount of care when using the unit’s buttons, sliders, or other controls; and when using its jacks andconnectors. Rough handling can lead to malfunctions.556• When connecting / disconnecting all cables, grasp the connectoritself—never pull on the cable. This way you will avoid causingshorts, or damage to the cable’s internal elements.558a• To avoid disturbing your neighbors, try to keep the unit’svolume at reasonable levels. You may prefer to use headphones,so you do not need to be concerned about those around you(especially when it is late at night).558d• This instrument is designed to minimize the extraneous soundsproduced when it’s played. However, since sound vibrations canbe transmitted through floors and walls to a greater degree thanexpected, take care not to allow these sounds to become anuisance to neighbors, especially when performing at night andwhen using headphones.559a• When you need to transport the unit, package it in the box(including padding) that it came in, if possible. Otherwise, youwill need to use equivalent packaging materials.add• The snare stand is supported by means of a tripod. Wheninstalling the drum set, make sure the legs of the tripod areopened wide enough to keep the equipment from falling over.3

Adjusting the HeadAdjusting the Head TensionWhen adjusting, use the included drum key.Heads MUST BE TUNED BEFORE PLAYING.Like with an acoustic drum, accurate and equal head tension is needed for correcttriggering response.1Loosen the tuning bolts until a slight gap is produced. On the PD-125/105, adjustingthe head tension affects onlythe head response, and not thepitch of the sound, as it wouldon an acoustic drum. To adjustthe pitch, edit the soundparameters of the TD-20/TD-12. For details refer to therespective owner's manual.2Tighten all tuning bolts by fingers, as tightly as you can.fig.Head tension may change overa period of time, so readjustwhen necessary.Tuning boltWasherSlight gapHoop3Using the drum key, turn the tuning bolts two full revolutions each, thustightening them.Tighten each tuning bolt one by one, observing the numerical order shown in thefigure.fig.1 3HEAD MADE BY REMO U.S.A.564 2Positional Sensing with the TD-20/12By using the TD-20/12 as the sound module, you can produce changes in the sounddepending on the position on the head that is struck.
