NURSING PROGRAMS AT LOWER COLUMBIA COLLEGE<br />
• Registered Nurse (RN) <strong>Program</strong> (Associate in Applied Science Degree) - Can be completed in eight quarters. Upon<br />
completion students must pass the national licensing exam to become RNs.<br />
• Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) <strong>Program</strong> - Students may earn a Certificate of Proficiency by exiting the Associate Degree<br />
program at the LPN level after four quarters.<br />
• LPN to RN <strong>Program</strong> - Existing LPNs may complete this online program in one or two years in order to become eligible to<br />
take the national licensing exam to become an RN.<br />
MINIMUM RN AND LPN PROGRAM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS<br />
• High School Diploma or GED.<br />
• High school chemistry or CHEM 100 AND high school human biology or BIOL 120.<br />
• Completion of MATH 099/MATH 112, PSYC 111, and BIOL 221 with a grade in each of 2.0 or better and overall GPA of these three courses of 2.8.<br />
• Proof of <strong>Nursing</strong> Assistant Certification issued by the Oregon or Washington Department of Health which includes criminal background clearance.<br />
• Completion of two Admission Tests: Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) and the Critical Thinking Test (CT).<br />
• Additional points may be earned for completing nursing supportive courses (at least a 2.0 in each and overall minimum GPA of 2.8): BIOL 222,<br />
BIOL 257, CHEM 111, ENGL 101, PSYC 205 and SOCY 110/ANTH 207.<br />
MINIMUM LPN TO RN PROGRAM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS<br />
• High School Diploma or GED.<br />
• Current unencumbered Washington State or Oregon State LPN license and Current CPR card for Health Care Professionals.<br />
• AIDS education (if PN program was outside of Washington).<br />
• 1000 hours clinical practice in the past 2 years.<br />
• Passing score on the National League for <strong>Nursing</strong> Acceleration Challenge Examination I.<br />
• Current computer skills.<br />
• GPA of 2.0 or better. A “C” or better is required in all nursing and supportive courses.<br />
• Completion of MATH 099/MATH 112, BIOL 221, BIOL 222, BIOL 257, PSYC 111, PSYC 205, and ENG 101.<br />
