Tom Thickpenny (SI) got his first kart in January 2007 and
entered his first race at the West of Scotland Kart Club
delighted to have won them both!
If Tom continues his winning streak he hopes to compete
Country Championships 2010
The Scottish Primary Schools’ Cross
Country Championship was held in
Kirkcaldy in late April. Over 1200
participants in each race. St Columba’s
pupils have trained extremely hard
throughout the season and were
rewarded with their best-ever results at
this prestigious event.
Individual medals were won in the Junior
6 race, with Laura Stark winning Silver
added to the medal tally winning Team
Gold. Other members of the winning
team were Eilidh Love (10th), Maddie
The Junior 6 boys’ team achieved 7th
place in the team event, with Josh
however, is to be offered a place on the coveted International
Easykart Driver Programme. Signed by legendary Italian kart
manufacturer Birel Spa, this would give him the opportunity
to test-drive a KF3 kart (contested internationally) with the
possibility of being selected for the Birel works team. As
well as competing at Cadet level this year, Tom is currently
practising in a Junior kart to maximise his chances of
progressing with Easykart / Birel next season. Keep up-to-date
