How to Apply for a Training or Staff<strong>Development</strong> ActivityTo make an application you should:l Discuss the relevance of the training <strong>and</strong> development activity with your linemanager.l Enlist his or her support in your request by asking them to <strong>com</strong>plete the supportingstatement on the appropriate YS/T1 application form.(The training ‘YS/T1’ form is located at the back of this brochure <strong>and</strong> should beused for all training applications, as it assists with the training records for everyindividual member of staff, including volunteers).l Send your <strong>com</strong>pleted YS/T1 forms to Raj Lehal, Youth <strong>and</strong> Community ServiceManager for Training <strong>and</strong> Staff <strong>Development</strong>.l All requests must be received at HQ no later than two weeks before the closing date(Unless otherwise stated).l In the event of a line manager not supporting your application, you should beadvised of their reason. You have the right to appeal to a more senior manager ifyou are not happy with the decision they have taken.For substantial <strong>and</strong> open learning courses relating to post-entry qualifications,<strong>com</strong>pleted application forms, including line manager’s supporting statement, shouldbe received by HQ for consideration by March 31st of the financial year prior to<strong>com</strong>mencement of the course.A Training <strong>and</strong> <strong>Development</strong> activity will only be supported <strong>and</strong> funded provided theapplication form has been fully <strong>com</strong>pleted <strong>and</strong> returned to the Youth <strong>and</strong> CommunityService Training Manager no later than 2 weeks before the start of the event. Any costincurred without full approval will be the responsibility of the individual.6
