Learning and DevelopmentOpportunities BrochureWelcome to our Learning and Development Opportunities Brochure for theacademic year 2007/2008. It sets out the different types of learning and developmentopportunities that are organised by the Youth and Community Service for the comingyear for full and part time youth workers and admin staff.A key part of our learning and development programme is the Level 2 and Level 3 VRQYouth Work Qualification for part time youth workers. These programmes are designedto ensure we are creating quality experiences for the young people we work with. It isimportant, therefore, that we encourage all our part time youth workers to sign up andthat we provide the necessary support for them to complete these pieces of training. As a Service we are committed to staff development and will do our best to meet theidentified learning and development needs of members of staff through the PersonalDevelopment Review (PDR), within our financial constraints. It is critical, therefore, that all staff receive a PDR and their identified learning needs are forwarded to us.The brochure also contains details of courses that are available through Dorset CountyCouncil’s Learning and Development Team. This is not an exhaustive list of all thelearning and development activities that will take place in the year ahead as other pieceswill be made available to meet identified needs. As the person holding the training and staff development portfolio, I am only too happyto discuss any aspect of this with you. Please do not hesitate to contact me, Jean or Nicif you have any questions about our learning and development programme.Raj LehalYouth and Community Services ManagerContacts for further information:Raj Lehal, Youth & Community Services ManagerTel: 01305 254005 Email: r.lehal@dorsetcc.gov.ukJean Arnold, Training & Staff Development Youth WorkerTel: 01305 254002 Email: j.m.arnold@dorsetcc.gov.ukNic White, Training & Staff Development Administration AssistantTel: 01305 254013 Email: n.j.white@dorsetcc.gov.ukDorset Youth and Community ServiceHammick HouseBridport RoadPoundburyDorchesterDorset DT1 3SDTelephone: 01305 254009Fax: 01305 7571334
