Leadership in the Outdoors (residential)In the very early stages of planning with youth workers and Rob Brindley, DCCOutdoor Education Manager. The underlying aim of this will be to raise awareness,understanding and increase participation in outdoor education amongst young peopleand staff. The programme is likely to be built around the Coastal and CountrysideCourse and possibly include risk assessment and first aid. The intention is to offersomething in May /June 2008 over a couple of weekends. Information will be circulatedonce the details have been finalised.Drugs & Alcohol TrainingDrugs and Alcohol Training will be delivered by the East Dorset Drug andAlcohol Advisory Service.Participants and their line-managers will need to decide which level of trainingindividual workers need to attend after looking at the course content. Workers with agood knowledge and understanding of the issues covered by Stages 1 and 2 of theprogramme and who are regularly dealing with these issues in their work with youngpeople, will be allowed to start at Stage 3, dealing with the use of the Screening Tool.Please contact EDDAAS for course information, telephone: 01202 311606.Regional Training EventsThroughout the year various events organised by colleagues in the South West areadvertised through Learning South West (previously SWAFET). Many of these eventshave a cost attached – dependent on their duration and location.
