7.2 External Validation & Assessment7.2.1 To act as a forum for the co-ordination <strong>of</strong> actions required to be undertaken inpreparation for relevant external validation and assessments e.g. CQC, NHSLArelating to sharps prevention and the management <strong>of</strong> inoculation incidents.7.2.2 To monitor risk management action plans for relevant NHSLA Risk <strong>Management</strong>Standards and other key performance indicators to provide evidence <strong>of</strong> continuousimprovement.7.2.4 To monitor the implementation <strong>of</strong> recommendations and findings from internal andexternal reports and board level inquiries pertaining to sharps prevention and themanagement <strong>of</strong> inoculation incidents.7.3 Annual Reports and Plans7.3.1 To ensure that sharps prevention and the management <strong>of</strong> inoculation incidentsactivities are included within the Trust’s Annual Report.7.3.2 To ensure that the Trust’s Annual Audit Plan includes provision for audits to provideassurance on compliance with sharps prevention and the management <strong>of</strong>inoculation incidents procedures.7.3.3 To ensure that audit plans for sharps prevention and the management <strong>of</strong>inoculation incidents procedures cover all relevant departments and staff groups.7.4 Training7.5.1 To review sharps prevention and the management <strong>of</strong> inoculation incidents trainingand awareness needs and identify an annual training programme to ensurecompliance with Trust policy.7.5.2 To review training competencies and to make recommendations to ensurecompliance as required.8. Reporting Responsibilities8.1 The Committee shall report quarterly on its activities to the Health & Safety Committee.9.
