Taupō District <strong>Council</strong>Water supply assets include 570km of pipes, 1,572 water meters, 3,946 valves, 1,780fire hydrants, 14 bores, 301 backflow preventers, 43 flow meters, 35 pump stations, 65reservoirs with total reservoir storage capacity of 32,415m 3 , 35 buildings, and 18,912registered connections. These assets are estimated to be valued at $53 million.In excess of $16 million was identified in the 2009-19 Long Term <strong>Council</strong> CommunityPlan for renewal/replacement of Taupō District <strong>Council</strong>’s existing infrastructure and afurther $25 million (approximately) was allocated for upgrades required for the existingcommunity and in order to cater for population growth, including a new water treatmentplant to enable compliance with the Drinking Water Standards for New Zealand2005. 231Stormwater assets include 206km of pipes, 4,077 catch pits, 450 inlets/outlets, 2,929manholes, 33 soakholes and four pump stations. 232Wastewater assets include 350km of pipes, 6,651 manholes, 98 pump stations, 12treatment plants and 13 treated effluent disposal sites, 26 buildings and 16,538registered connections. 233 A programme of improvements has been built between late2009 and 2012. Further upgrades are planned between 2012 and 2020.Thames-Coromandel District <strong>Council</strong>Water supply assets include nine systems, with each comprising water sources(surface takes and groundwater bores), treatment, storage, reticulation network andpump stations (in some instances). 234 The majority of the reticulation pipework was builtfrom 1950 onwards and the depreciated replacement cost in 2008 was $39,654,853. 235Stormwater assets consist of 231km of stormwater pipes, almost 8,300 manholes andassorted minor drainage structures. 236 Most of the current pipework was built from 1950onwards and the depreciated replacement cost in 2008 was $74,498,017. 237Wastewater assets include 367km of pipes and just over 4,500 manholes. The majorityof the reticulation pipework was built from 1970 onwards 238 and the depreciatedreplacement cost in 2008 was $66,392,618. 239<strong>Waikato</strong> District <strong>Council</strong>Water supply assets include five water treatment plants, a bore supply and aspring/bore supply. The district also has 21 reservoirs and 593km of reticulationnetwork. <strong>Waikato</strong> District <strong>Council</strong>’s water treatment and supply infrastructure iscurrently valued at $52 million. The 2009 Long Term <strong>Council</strong> Community Plan identifiesa further $43 million of expenditure to be invested in maintenance, renewal andupgrade of the infrastructure over the 2009–2019 period. 240Stormwater assets include 72km of pipes, 1556 manholes, 20 urban flood protectionassets and 678km of rural stormwater drains.
