Alternative livelihood- Seaweedculture <strong>in</strong> TSMP• 2000 ha with<strong>in</strong> General Use Zone<strong>of</strong> TSMP• Pioneer Project,: collaboration with<strong>Sabah</strong> Fisheries Dept. and UMS(250 ha)• To <strong>in</strong>troduce more effective areamanagement, eco-friendly andsusta<strong>in</strong>able with community basedprogram approach• Racently, 3 more local company tobe <strong>in</strong>volved with same concept(part <strong>of</strong> NKEA program)


<strong>Parks</strong> Revenue• As a statutory body under the Park Enactment 1984, SP haveright to collect revenue for support<strong>in</strong>g the conservation effortwith<strong>in</strong> the parks (section 45(2)(f), <strong>Parks</strong> Enactment 1984).• SP could generate an <strong>in</strong>come <strong>of</strong> up to RM15 mil per year (allparks)• Allocation budget from state government around RM25 mil forma<strong>in</strong>tenance, operational and development.• In addition to develop more holistic f<strong>in</strong>ancial mechanism,bus<strong>in</strong>ess plan study was carried out e.g. for TiP by WWF/UMS<strong>in</strong> 2008, with a series <strong>of</strong> meet<strong>in</strong>g with the stakeholder• In 2010, SP managed to <strong>in</strong>crease the <strong>Conservation</strong> fee (RM10to RM60) thus <strong>in</strong>crease the whole revenue for TiP
