The Scam
Have you been emailed by someone from Nigeria who wants to share
millions of dollars with you? I get such emails every month. Usually I
hit the delete key pretty quickly, but recently I decided to stick my foot
into that murky pond, and I responded to the email. Here, for your
entertainment and enlightenment, is the correspondence.
Dear Rasmussen
I am Barrister Donald Mark Solicitor. I am the Personal
attorney to Mr Rasmussen Binzagr a national of your country, who used
to work with shell development company in Nigeria. On the 21st of April
1999, my client, his wife And their three children were involved in a
car accident along Sagbama Express Road. All occupants of the vehicle
unfortunately lost there lives. Since then I have made several
enquiries to your embassy to locate any of my clients extended
relatives, this has also proved unsuccessful. After these several
unsuccessful attempts, I decided to trace his relatives over the
Internet, to locate any member of his family but of no avail, hence I
contacted you. I have contacted you to assist in repartrating the money
and property left behind by my client before they get confisicated or
declared unserviceable by the bank where this huge deposits were
lodged.
Particularly, the Bank where the deceased had an account valued at
about 29 million dollars has issued me a notice to provide the next of
kin or have the account confisicated within the next ten official
working days. since i have been unsuccesfull in locating the the
relatives for over 2 years now I seek your consent to present you as
the next of kin of the deceased since you are from the same country so
that the proceeds of this account valued at $29 million dollars can be
paid to you and then you and me can share the money. 55% to me and 40%
to you, while 5% should be for expenses or tax as your government may
require, I have all necessary legal documents that can be used to back
up any claim we may make. All I require is your honest cooperation to
enable us see this dealt through. I guarantee that this will be
executed under a legitimate arrangement that will protect you from any
breach of the law. Please get in touch with me by my email to enable us
discuss further.
Best regards,
Esq:Donald Mark
Hi Donald. I'm not sure a 55% commission is in order here.
Dear Rasmussen,
thank for your mail, could you please explain more about your last
mail,if you are interested in this offer, send your full name and
address, tel and fax number , for easy communication, FOR YOUR
ASSISTANCE 40% FOR YOU. i will direct you what to do when i hear from
you
thanks
DONALD
Dear Donald,
What I am saying is I don't think providing you with 55% of my money
is fair. Can we change that?
Paul Rasmussen
South Carolina, USA
Dear Rasmussen
i will like to you to talk how you want us to share this money.to losen
my curiousity, i will like you to send your information i demand from
you and your international passport number,i will now build trust on
you before i will process your name as the uncle.
Donald
Dear Donald,
I really feel we should clear up our problem with percentages before we
progress to exchanging personal information. I can't believe my nephew
intended for more than 50% of his money to be taken by middle-people. I
don't feel like I would be respecting his wishes to leave me this money
if I don't receive at least half of it. Does that make sense to you?
Best regards,
Rasmussen
DEAR Rasmussen,
THANK FOR YOUR MAIL, I REASON WITH YOUR MAIL, WELL,LET PUT IT THIS
WAY,50% FOR YOU AND 50% FOR ME, WE HAVE TO HASTING UP BEFOR THISFUND
WILL CONFISICATED BY THE BANK.I HOPE BY YOUR NEXT REPLY YOU WILL SEND
YOUR DETAILS SO THAT I WILL START PROCESS YOUR DETAILS FROM THE FEDERAL
HIGH COURT OF JUSTICE.
I WILL ADVICE YOU TO CALL ME ON TEL 234-1-7762178
THANKS
MARK
Mark,
Thank you for your understanding. I don't mean to quibble, but I just
don't think my nephew would have wanted me to settle for less.
One more thing - You said 5% for taxes. I wish! You must not be very
familiar with the tax structure here in the United States, because it
is nowhere near 5%. I have never been rich before, so I am not sure,
but I think the tax rate might be pretty close to 40%! That only leaves
60% for you and me to split (50/50). Will that be OK with you?
P.S. Around the oak supper table I shared this news with my family. My
wife is very excited, but my 3 kids are a bit tore up. I explained to
them that Binzagr was a bit of a roamer, and that was why he was in
Nigeria. I was wondering if I could ask a favor of you? Actually, I am
willing to pay for your services. Here is the deal: Could you arrange
for 5 small crosses and wreaths to be placed at the spot on the Sagbama
Express Road where Binzagr, his wife and his 3 kids had their terrible
accident? It would mean alot to my kids. They are kind of upset, and
this would make them feel better. I think it kind of spooked them that
Binzagr had three kids and WE have 3 kids.
Anyway, I would fully expect this expense to be deducted from my share,
and as Binzagr's personal barrister, I expect you would know how to get
this done.
DEAR PAUL,
THANK FOR YOUR MAIL ,IT SEEM YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND THE NATURE OF THIS
TRANSACTION, I CONTACTED YOU BECAUSE YOU HAVE SIMILAR NAME WITH MY
CLIENT TO MOVE THIS MONEY FROM THE BANK BEORE IT GET CONFISICATED.
WELL WHAT YOU DEMAND FROM ME I DONT HAVE IT I ONLY HAVE THE DOCUMENT OF
THIS FUND AND THE MEDICAL REPORT OF MY MY CLIENT, I WILL SEND TO YOU
WHEN I YOU CONVICE ME THAT YOU ARE READY TO DO THIS TRANSACTION WITH
YOU.
THANK
MARIAM
Ah, I think I understand now. Am I correct in my understanding that
Binzagr was not really my nephew, but that because of his similar name
I have an opportunity now to keep some of his money "in the family" (of
Rasmussens)?
Just tell me exactly what information you need from me and I will do my
est to cooperate with you.
Sincerely,
Alex
All this while , i think you understand the nature of this transaction,
mr Binzagr was my client when he was alive, since he lost his family, i
have been looking for him relation in your country but i can not see
any of the relation, that is why i contact for you to be the next of
kin of mr Binzagr,
information i heard from the bank since the relation of my client have
not contact the bank , the money will be confisicated.that is why i
contact you for you to be the next of kin.
i have the certificate of deposite of this money,i will fax it to you
when you send the information i ask you to send below. so that i will
obtain affidabite from the hight court of justice , which will show
that you are the next of kin to my client because the Bank will ask
about this documents from you before they will transfer the fund to
your account.
All i need from you now, send your full name and address your tel and
fax number
after the process, you will contact the Bank and instruct them to
transfer the fund into you nominated account.
THANK
DONALD
Great! I am glad we are on the same page. My wife is really getting
excited thinking about what she wants to do with the money. My kids are
still kind of tore up about what happened to Binzagr's kids, but I
think they'll get over it. It would really help if you could arrange
for those five crosses and wreaths to be placed at the site of the
crash on the Sagbama Express Road. Once again, I am perfectly happy
having the full cost of this memorial come out of my 50% of the money.
Any way, here is the information you asked for:
Paul Rasmussen
204 North Sterling Street
Morganton, NC 28655
Dear Paul,
thank you for your information you send to me, but you have to send
your telephone number for easy communication and i will submit your
information and tel and fax number to the Bank for them to notify you
as the next of kin to my late client.
if they insist that you will come and carry the money here in nigeria,
fine. but if they insist ,they will transfer the fund in to your
account, base on the instruction from the bank.
i will not process your name from court as the next of kin to my client
when you have not send the tel and fax number.
as soon as i receive the tel and fax number before i will go to court
to sole affidavit on behalf of you.
Thank i will advice you to call me on phone 234-1-7762178
Dear Mark,
I just called the number you gave me. An answering machine answered and
said "You have reached the phone of Robbie Kline. Please leave a
message". Naturally, I hung up right away. What gives? Do I have to
dial some prefix number before dialing you?
You keep asking for my fax number. As you may remember, I don't have a
fax machine. Do I need to get one? I think I could get one down at
Staples for about $100 or so. Does it need to have any particular
features? Should I just go ahead and get a fax machine, and if I do,
will I be able to charge this to expenses (remember, we split 50-50
AFTER expenses and taxes). If I do, how will you know when my fax
machine is hooked up and when my phone is?
Best regards,
Rasmussen
base on the expenses, any expenses you made intense of this transaction
will be deduct from this fun before sharing this money both your
telephone bill. for my telephone is okey.all you have to do now dial
your country access code before this number 234-1-7762178
thanks
MARK
Donald,
My wife wants to know if we are going to need to come to Nigeria to get
the money or not. She is kind of hoping not, partly because of an
article in the local newspaper this morning that talked about how some
guy in Nigeria was sentenced to a stoning (and I'll bet we aren't
talking about blowing smoke in his face, are we) because he fooled
around with a woman that was not his wife. Any way, she is kind of
worried about this. I'm not though. I think I would enjoy the trip, and
I'm sure I could curtail my "urges" (if you know what I mean) for a
couple of days. Any way, let me know.
DEAR PAUL,
WELL THIS BUSINESS HAS BEEN IN MIND TO TRANSACTION WITH YOU,I WILL SEND
THE DEPOSITE CERTIFICATE OF THE FUND AND MEDICAL REPORT OF THE MY LATE
CLIENT TO YOU ,THAT IS WHILE I NEED YOUR FAX , I WILL SUBMIT YOUR FILE
TO THE APEX PAYING BANK OF NIG FOR THEM TO NOTIFY YOU BEFORE IT GET
CONFISICATED.
I AM CONFESS TO YOU THAT YOU ARE DELAYING THIS TRANSACTION, AS SOON AS
I WILL RECEIVE THE YOUR TEL AND FAX NUMBER, I WILL GO AHEAD TO COURT
FOR AFFIDAVIT BECAUSE THE BANK MUST ASK YOU ABOUT THIS DOCUMENTS FROM
YOU BEFORE THIS FUND WILL PAY TO YOU .
THANKS
MARK
Dear Mark,
I’ve done it! I went to Staples and got a fax machine, and I finally
got the sucker set up! I’ll tell you, it wasn’t easy! Between unpacking
it and reading the manual, I probably spent most of the day working on
it. My wife wanted to go for a drive in the country today, and I had to
tell her what I was doing. She wasn’t happy when she found out that I
got a Staples credit card and put the thing on that. She is trying to
cut down on our credit card use, but I got to tell you, I probably get
a new credit card offered to me every day. It’s like the highlight of
the evening mail.
Anyway, I got the Brother PPF 2800. It cost $279.98. Now before you
blow a gasket, let me say that I didn’t really trust any of the other
fax machines they had. They looked like they probably were made in
Japan, and around here that is sort of frowned on. Also, let me get
this out front, the clerk convinced me that I should also get the
gray finish mobile fax machine stand, for another $207.23. I guess what
I am trying to say is this – is it OK if I count the gray finish mobile
stand as an expense as well as the fax machine? I really didn’t have a
good place to put it . . .
Anyway, I’ve got the fax machine set up now, so go ahead and fax away.
I have had it set up for about an hour now, and I haven’t got any faxes
yet, but it did ring once. So here is my number: 828 438-9488. I
don’t know what prefix code you need to dial, but maybe someone in your
law firm knows. Surely someone there has done business with someone in
the USA before.
Anyway, I’m waiting to hear from you . .
Sincerely,
Rasmussen
DEAR PAUL
THANK FOR YOUR EFFORT YOU HAVE MADE TOWARDS THE FAX MACHINE.I WILL GO
TO COURT THIS MORNING FOR THE AFFIDAVIT, I KNOW I WILL SPEND SOME MONEY
FOR THE AFFIDATIVE. I WILL GET BACK TO YOU WHEN I COME BACK FROM COURT.
BUT MEAN WHILE SEND YOUR TELEPHONE NUMBER SO THAT WHEN I GET BACK FROM
COURT I WILL CALL YOU,AND I WILL SEND YOU THE CERTIFICATE OF DEPOSIT
WITH THE AFFIDAVIT I WILL OBTAIN FROM COURT TOWARDS EVENING TIME.
BEFORE I WILL SEND YOU A LETTER YOU HAVE TO SEND TO THE BANK ,
THANKS
PRAY FOR ME UNTILL I COME BACK FROM COURT FOR SUCCESFULL RESORT.
MARK
Sure thing Donald. Here is my number again: 828 438-9488
Rest assured, I have been praying for you every day, although I won't
be able to pray for you non-stop until you get back from court because
I have a job I have to go to. And it is not one of those jobs where you
can put your mind on auto-drive either. I work in the evisceration room
at the Chicken Plant, and if my mind wanders I lose a finger (happened
once!).
Speaking of praying, once again last night when I put my kids to bed
they prayed for Binzagr's family to go to heaven. I don't know what
religion you are, but here in the USA most of us are Baptists, and
Baptists believe pretty strongly that if you don't put a cross and a
wreath at the scene of the accident the victims kind of have to hang
around heaven's waiting room. It would REALLY mean a lot to my kids
(and therefore to me) if you could PLEASE arrange for five wreaths and
crosses to be placed at the scene of the wreck. Unless I am mistaken, I
have already asked you about this several times only to have you ignore
me. Since I am willing to pay for this, this doesn't seem like the
behavior of a lawyer. Can't you help me out here?
One more thing. I assume when the court gives you our money it will be
in the form of a check. Will you be able to cash the check without my
signature? If so, can you fax a check to me for my share?
Thanks again!
IT WAS NOT EASY FOR ME YESTERDAY WHEN I GET TO COURT. THEY CHARGE FOR
THE AFFIDAVIT $2,500 US
BUT I AM ABLE TO RAISE 1,500 DOLLARS I NEED YOUR ASSISTANCE NOW, YOU
WILL DEDUCT FROM THE FUND WHEN TH BANK TRANFER THE FUND. I WILL SEND
ALL DOCUMENT WHEN THIS AFFIDAVIT IS OBTAIN THAT IS THE PROBLEM WE HAVE
TO MOVE THIS MONEY.
I WILL SEND TO WHAT YOU WILL SEND TO THE BANK AFTER THIS SOLVING OUR
PROBLEM OF AFFIDAVIT
MARK
What's up Mark? I haven't gotten any faxes from you. Is everything OK?
I'm afraid my wife has already started driving up the credit cards a
little, so we are starting to hope this deal comes through sooner
rather than later. Do you need me to fax you something? If so, what?
documents to you before i will send application letter to you,for you
to contact the bank.
hope to hear from you
MARK
Hi Mark. I have a couple of questions for you. I hope you
have the time to provide me with some answers.
1) Exactly how should I provide you with the $1000? Is
this American dollars? Will a check be all right, or does
it need to be cash?
2) You say you have tried to fax me, but to no avail. What
do you mean you tried to fax me? What happened when you
tried? I have not received ANY faxes, ever since I set the
machine up. The phone on the fax machine has rung many
times, but no paper has come out the fax machine. Is this
what happens when you try to fax me to no avail?
DEAR PAUL,
Your name
Dear Donald,
I am having a little trouble raising the money. Normally it would not
be a problem coming up with $1000 on relatively short notice. In fact,
I did it just a couple of months ago when Uncle Lester needed six
hundred for the bail-bondsman (a little misunderstanding about a fire
someone set in his ex-wife's Camaro). I was really hoping that Agassi
would beat Sampras in yesterday's US Open final match, but he didn't.
Each time I place a bet and don't win it I have to find a new bookie,
and in this part of the country bookies don't grow on trees (this isn't
exactly Atlantic City).
So anyway, bear with me. I called in sick at the Chicken plant, and I'm
going to spend the whole day today raising the money. There are a
couple of guys who owe me, and I'm going to track them down. Also, I
was thinking maybe I could sell the fax machine and the fax machine
stand. Or am I going to need the fax machine later in order for you to
send me my share of the money?
If I can't raise the money until tomorrow that isn't going to be too
late is it?
Best regards,
DONALD
Hi Donald. Well, yesterday was a long day, and only now (10:30 am) have
I finally got some coffee in me. Laura Mae (my wife) called me in sick
to the Chicken Plant this morning.
To make a long story short, I raised most of the thousand I need. I
found Booger and got the $75 he owed me for the tiller, and I tracked
down Bobbie Joe at the Garage and got $300 of the $500 he still owes me
for the Jet Ski (his boss advanced it to him just to get me out of his
Garage). I couldn't find Leroy. I checked all the corners where he
usually hangs. I located my sister Sally, but I couldn't shake a dime
out of her, cuz her husband Luke was there. After a while Luke took me
down to the Suds & Suds where we did a load of laundry and got a little
loaded ourselves. I sort of spilled the beans on the Binzagr deal, but
it turned out for the best because Luke wants to be dealt in. We
finally settled on him putting in $600 in exchange for getting 6
million of my money. Now here is the important thing: I told him I had
to send you $1200 and that I was going to be getting 12 million after
we split it (AFTER expenses). So he thinks he is putting up half the
money and getting half the package, but you and I know that I'm sort of
scamming him here, cuz I only have to send you one thousand not $1200,
and I sure hope to be getting more than 12 million. So can you sort of
play along with me on this one, I mean, if it comes to meeting Luke or
anything?
Luke is going to bring his $600 over tonight, so it doesn't look like I
will be able to send the money by Western Union until tomorrow. Will
that be OK?
Thanks,
Paul
THANK FOR THE EFFORT YOU HAVE MADE SO FAR TO RAISE THIS MONEY.WELL THE
MOST IMPORTANT,HAVE YOU APPLY TO THE BANK FOR THEM TO HOLD ON BEFORE
THEY DECLARED THE MONEY CONFISICATED.
PLEASE TRY AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE TO PAY THIS MONEY THROUGH WESTERM UNION.
PAY WITH THIS NAME MR DAVIDSON OKAFOR
AND THEM FORWARD THE INFORMATION OFTHE PAYMENT THROUH THIS EMAIL
ACCOUNT. THIS AFFIDAVIT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT FROM YOU SIDE WHICH SHOW
THAT YOU ARE THE NEX OF KIN.
PLEASE CALL ME TODAY
Your name Paul Rasmussen
Dear Donald,
OK! I did it! I filled out the email form you sent me and I sent it off
to the Apex Bank in Lagos. Are they going to use this information so
they can deposit money in my account? If they are going to be able to
transfer the money to me this way, how come I had to get the fax
machine?
Mainly what I want to know is when is this money transfer going to
happen? I'll admit it - I'm getting kind of anxious. Part of the reason
is a phone call I got about an hour ago from Ernie down at the Chicken
plant. He said he thought I ought to know that if I miss one more day
of work I'm going to be let go. He acted real concerned, but I'm here
to tell you, if I was let go he would be the first to grab my locker.
Another part of the reason is that I am sort of having to stay away
from a couple of guys in town who I owe money to, and it would be real
nice to get these bone-breakers off my back. Anyway, my question is
this: How soon after I send the $1000 by Western Union tomorrow will
the money be in my account? Or are you still planning on faxing it to
me?
Best regards,
Rasmussen
DEAR PAUL,
YOU THE CERTIFICATE OF DEPOSIT AND THE AFFIDAVIT THAT WILL BE OBTAIN
THANKS
DONALD
Dear Donald,
Luke brought over the $600 last night, and combined with what I
collected the other day and what I already had, I now have the $1000 I
need, and even a few dollars more. It turns out that because today is
11-Sept I won't be able to get to the Western Union office. There isn't
a Western Union in Morganton, so I have to go to Hickory to send the
money. I don't know about over there, but over here the Sheriff won't
let anybody travel on the highways today because of what happened a
year ago today. I don't even know if the Western Union office is open
today. Lots of places are closed because it is a day of mourning.
Also, Donald, I have to confess that I am having some misgivings about
this. It bothers me that you have never bothered to place crosses and
wreathes at the scene of Binzagr's accident. I have to wonder why you
have never responded to this request (a very reasonable request, I
think), even when I mentioned that I would pay for the crosses and
wreathes and even pay you for your time (what is your hourly lawyer
rate anyway?) making the arrangements. Every night when I put my kids
to bed and they ask me about this it reminds me of how you keep
ignoring my request. Can you PLEASE make this happen? If not, why not?
Regards,
Paul
IMPRESSED AND CONVICED THAT YOU ARE BY MY SIDE.BY RAISING THIS PROPOSAL
WHICH NEVER CAME INTO MY MIND ALL THIS WHILE.I WOULD WANT TO DO THIS AS
QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE WITH YOUR SUPPORT.
MAKE SURE YOU MAKE THE PAYMENT TODAY WITH THIS NAME MR DAVIDSON OKAFOR
I EXPECTED YOUR CALL YESTERDAY,WHAT HAPPEN? DO THE PAYMENT AND SEND
THE FOLLOWING: CONTROL NUMBER,SENDERS NAME,TEXT QUESTION AND
ANSWER,SENDER ADDRESS. BY EMAIL
THANKS
DONALD
Dear Donald,
I am mightily relieved to hear that you are taking care of the task of
placing 5 crosses near the spot on the highway where Binzagr and his
family bought the big one. This sure is going to make putting my kids
to bed easier. Religion can be a funny thing. What is your religion
Donald?
I guess it is OK if we just forget about the wreathes. I had no idea
the wreathes would cost $700. The birds would probably pick them apart
pretty fast anyway. The crosses are the most important thing. Are you
going to take them out there yourself, or are you going to send one of
your chamber boys? Please tell me when it is done.
More good news! I got some email from a Mr. Bello at the Apex Bank in
Nigeria! He said that they are going to confirm me as Binzagr's heir,
but he said first they need two things faxed to them. The need
something called the "certificate of deposite" and also something
called "the Afidavit". Can you fax these things to him? Here is his fax
number: 234-1-4491022
More good news! My buddy Ratso came over last night and we went out to
the Boar & Whore for a couple of drinks and I didn't say a word to him
about Binzagr. We played some partners 9-ball at $5 a pop against some
of the local school kids, and made enough to cover our drinks and then
some! This may not be interesting to you, but since I didn't have more
than a couple of bucks in addition to the thousand I am sending you
which was hidden in my underwear, it was mighty important to me.
Well, today is the big day. I still have the thousand in my drawers. I
called in Sick again today, even though I knew it would cost me my job.
And you know what? I don't give a rat’s pitooti. That has to be the
lousiest job in the city. Just the smell of the evisceration room would
make you puke, until you got used to it. So . . I am planning on
driving to Hickory today. I have never been to the Western Union
office, but a dame down at the bar last night told me about where it
is. If all goes well at Western Union today, when do you think the Bank
of Apex will transfer Binzagr's money into my account? How do you want
me to pay you your half? With a check? Why don't you go ahead and send
me what your expenses have been. I'll add it to mine, take that off the
top, figure out the taxes, subtract that, then divide by two and send
you your share. I can't wait! What are you going to do with your share?
The first thing I am going to do is buy my neighbor's mobile home and
bulldoze it to the ground.
You told me to send you two things I do not understand. You said to
send you "control number" and also "text question and answer". I have
no idea what you are talking about. Can you explain?
It won't be long now!!!
Regards,
Ras
Hi Donald. I got my tire capped, and I'm going to be leaving for
Hickory directly. My wife is going to drive me there, because I
couldn't keep myself from having a premature celebration this morning.
I limited myself to a six-pack though, cuz I can't afford for anything
to go wrong at the Western Union office this afternoon. On the way home
we are going to stop at Sears and get a credit card, and maybe go on a
little shopping spree. We are pretty darn excited about how rich we are
soon going to be.
My wife had an excellent idea. Could you please take a picture of the
crosses when they are up on the side of the road? If you have one of
those digital cameras you could email me the picture. I'll bet as a
lawyer you use cameras all the time for pictures of car crashes, wife
abuse, spouse-spying and all that stuff. If you don't have a digital
camera, you could just mail me the picture the old-fashioned way. I
know I gave you my address. Anyway, it would really mean a lot to my
wife and kids, and therefore to me.
OK - off we go. Do you think the Apex Bank will be able to transfer the
money to my account today? What time is it there when it is noon here
in the United States?
Regards,
Paul
DEAR PAUL,
YOU.
HOPE TO HEAR FROM.I WILL SEND TO YOU THE CROSS BY DHL
DONALD
Note: A quick Google search reveals that DHL is a Nigerian express
delivery service specializing in fast delivery.
Dear Donald,
Well I am really bummed. I wish you had told me it was going to cost so
much to send you the money. The gal at the Western Union office was
very nice, but she couldn't decide for me, so Laura Mae and I had to
make a decision right there on the spot. It seems that Western Union
wants $60 for themselves. In other words, it would have cost me $1060
to send you $1000! I guess I was figuring it would cost about $5 or $6,
like it does to get a cashiers check from the bank. Well, needless to
say, we didn't have $1060. Between the wad in my drawers, some spare
change in my pocket, what was in Laura Mae's purse, and the loose
change in my bowling bag in the trunk, we came up with $1035.13. We
could have sent you $970, but I knew you would need the whole $1000
from me before you could get the documents from the court.
I feel like we are right back on square one, except that I no longer
have to go in to the Chicken plant every morning. Yep, there was a note
in my trailer door when I got back from Hazel Loudfaart. She is the
plant's "nurse". Yeah, right. More like their spy. They send her around
to visit people who call in sick. If she reports back that you aren't
there, you get the pink slip. Sick. Sacked. Sucks. How's that for a
conjugation?
And not the least of my problems is Laura Mae. She says she is getting
pretty sick of this whole thing. I think she got her hopes pretty high
about a week ago, and with this dragging on and on she is losing faith.
Since she also started charging things again last week, I'm afraid
things are going to get worse every time the mailman visits.
How long do you think I have before the bank will start to suspect me?
I REALLY need to get this transaction completed so I can get on with my
life, and so I can pay off some debts.
I guess the day's only good news is that you are going to be sending me
the picture of the five crosses by DHL. If their express service is as
reliable as usual, I should be able to show the picture to my kids no
later than Monday night when I put them to bed right after the game.
Thanks for that!
But for now - well, Happy Hour is arriving early today, if you know
what I mean.
DEAR PAUL
PLEASE IF YOU ARE NOT READY TO PAY THIS MONEY ,FORGET ABOUT THIS
MONEY,JUST SMALL AMOUNT OF MONEY WILL LET US LOSE HUGE AMOUNT.
IF YOU CAN NOT PAY THIS MONEY,PLEASE DON'T EMAIL ME ANY MORE.
BYE
DONALD
Dear Donald,
Excuse me Donald, but YOU are the one who did not tell me
about the Western Union fee. You would have the money
right now if you had bothered to tell me that it would
cost $60 to send you the money. How can you accuse me of
not being serious with all that I have gone through? Have
YOU lost your job? I have! Is your wife mad at you? Mine
is! Do you think I can not find another lawyer in Lagos?
I'll bet I can. Mr. Bellos at the Apex Bank is willing to
certify me as Binzagr's heir right now. I WILL be able to
pay this money. I just have to see a man I know. All I
need is a lawyer to obtain the correct paperwork for me.
If you don't want the job, that is fine with me. I'll find
someone else.
Bye
Paul
DEAR PAUL,
IT SEEMS YOU DON'T KNOW HOW MUCH IS INVOLVE,DID YOU THINK YOU CAN CLAIM
THE MONEY WITH OUT THE CERTIFICATE OF DEPOSIT.IF YOU WANT TO LOOK FOR
ANOTHER PERSON THAT BEAR YOUR NAME IN YOUR COUNTRY TO CLAIM THIS MONEY.
THANKS
THAT IS ALL I HAVE FOR YOU.
DONALD
Dear Donald,
Well, it appears you are right. I went to see my sister Sue last night
and laid the whole thing out for her. She said that without the
Certificate of Deposit I have nothing. I trust Sue because, until she
got banged up in 11th grade she was going to be pre-law, and she is
good with that kind of stuff. She said I should stop being foolish and
I should be careful not to piss you off because you were holding the
best hand. So, sorry I am, and contrite I be. Whilst thou forgive me?
Still, no self-respecting ambulance-chaser in this country would raise
his voice to a client as you did, and threatening to "belt" me if I
seek a new lawyer is actually against the law in this country. I think
the apologies should be a two-way street. Are we simpatico on this?
Rasmussen
PAUL,
AFTER READING YOUR MAIL ,I FORGIVE BECAUSE I AM GOOD CHRISTIAN, ALL THE
SAME YOU CAN PAY THE AMOUNT YOU HOLD AT HAND NOW I WILL BORROW REMAIN
MONEY FROM MY WIFE TO COMPLETE THE MONEY.SO GO TO WESTERM UNION TODAY
AND PAY THE MONEY ,SEND THE INFORMATION TO ME.
THANKS
DONALD
Dear Donald,
OK! We are back on the same page again! That is nice of your wife (what
is her name?) to loan us the money, but I just want to make sure of one
thing. In order to get the $600 from Luke I had to promise him 6
million when the booty came through. What did you have to promise your
wife? I have nothing against paying her back $35 or even $40 when we
get our big payday for her $30 loan now, but I don’t think it would be
smart of us to promise her $10,000, or anything like that, because I
know a guy here who would probably lend us the money at a better rate.
I mean, we are only $30 away from what we need, and I already hate like
heck that I am going to have to give Luke $6 mil.
So let me know what you obligated us to. I kind of look at us like a
partnership, and if you made an obligation to her I guess we’ll have to
fulfill it, but criminy I wish we could keep all of the $29 mil for
ourselves.
Anyway, if I hear back from you today, and if I don’t tie one on this
morning, I’ll head back to Hickory this afternoon and send the $970.
Your friend again,
Paul
DEAR PAUL,
HAVE YOU SEND THE MONEY?SEND THE INFORMATION NOW.
DONALD
Note: Geoff Bello from the Apex Bank now sends me another prompt.
Interestingly, he now has a different email address. He is now
apexbank_plc@financier.com, which I think is a better choice than his
original apex_bank@mycall.com. Impressively, the name “Geoff Bello”
survives the transition intact. Unimpressively, it appears the Apex Bank
is now using the free email services of Mail.com
Attn:paul
Are you realy the next of kin to Mr Binzagr?you have 48 hours to prove
your self by sending the documents before we confisicate this money.
Thanks
Dear Donald,
Well, to make a short story long, I had a little trouble over the
weekend. You remember my sister’s husband Luke? I had to cut him in on
the deal, and presto, there goes 6 million of my hard-earned money
right there. Well, it seems that Luke spent most of Friday night tying
one on with a buddy of his named Johnny Spinolli, and by Saturday
morning Johnny Spinolli is now cut in on the deal too. I hate it, cuz
with your wife willing to throw in the $30 we didn’t really need him
anyway, but Spinolli is a member of the local mafia. I don’t know if
you have mafia over there in Nigeria, but over here they are the real
power behind EVERYTHING, and saying no to a member of the family is not
actually possible. Fortunately, Luke thought the whole pot was 12
million, and now that we are doing thirds, Luke, Johnny and I each have
4 million to look forward to. Remember – this does not mean that you
only need to send me 12 million – that was just a ruse we pulled on
Luke. Well the good part of this is that Luke got $400 from Johnny
Spinolli in exchange for promising him 4 million, so cash is not a
problem now, and I was able to send the whole $1000 to you. Please
thank your wife for me anyway.
OK, here are the details that you need, according to the woman at the
Western Union office, who was very nice to me, considering I had never
done this before.
The money was sent to Mr. Davidson Okafor
The control number is: 6398234392
The text question is: How did Binzagr die?
The text answer is: car crash
Donald, it is VERY IMPORTANT that you take care of releasing this money
TODAY! I have heard from the Apex Bank again, and they must have the
documents within 24 hours or they will confiscate this money.
As you know, I have recently become unemployed, so this money has taken
on a new importance to me. Also, I cannot stress too strongly that now
that the mafia is in on it, absolutely nothing had better go wrong.
Regards,
Paul
DEAR PAUL,
I HAVE RECEIVE THE INFORMATIO ABOUT THE MONEY YOU SEND TO ME. PLEASE
SPECIFY HOW MUCH DID YOU SEND AND SENDER NAME,PLEASE,I WILL GET BACK TO
YOU WITH THE DOCUMENTS TOMORROW
DONALD
Dear Donald,
I sent all the money, $1000. I was the sender, and used my own name, of
course.
Please fax me the documents early tomorrow. I need to send them to the
Apex Bank as soon as possible. They are threatening to cancel my
inheritance if I don't give them the documentation right away. Please
take a cab to the court, not the bus. I will pay for it (out of my
share).
Please hurry. There is a little problem on this end with Johnny
Spinolli. It appears he told the Godfather about the deal, and the
Godfather's lawyer now wants something in writing from Luke stating
when the payment of $4 million will be made. Luke is obviously pretty
ticked off by all this, and is in danger of losing his temper the next
time the subject comes up. All these problems will be solved when the
Apex Bank transfers the 29 million to my account.
You might want to go ahead and send me the itemization of your
expenses. I will add your expenses to mine, subtract that from the 29
million, calculate probably amount of tax and subtract that, then
divide the rest in two and fax you a check for your share. From the
remaining amount I must pay Luke 4 million and Johnny Spinolli 4
million. Then I am going to bulldoze my asshole neighbor's trailer, and
take Laura Mae to the Virgin Islands.
Please hurry,
Paul
DEAR PAUL,
MR OKAFOR DAVIDSON DID NOT RECEIVE THE MONEY IN WESTERN UNION OFFICE
HERE IN NIGERIA.I WILL ADVICE YOU TO CHECK THE CONTROL NUMBER YOU SENT
TOME CONTROL NUMBER;6398234392 BECAUSE THE WESTERN UNION OFFICE CROSS
CHECK THROUGH THEIR PAYMENT LIST AND CONFIRMED YOU DID NOT MAKE ANY
PAYMENT,PLEASE MAKE THE PAYMENT AND SEND ME THE REAL INFORMATION,IT IS
VERY URGENT .PLEASE EMAIL THE BANK ,TELL THEM THAT YOU WILL GET BACK TO
THEM TOMMORROW WITH DOCUMENTS
DONALD
Dear Donald,
This is very disturbing. I never said anything to you about it, but one
of the guys at the Chicken plant who I told about this told me that if
I sent you the money I would hear back that "it was never received",
and sure enough, that is just what you are telling me. After all the
trust I have put in you this is a real blow to me. It is not just that
I WANT this money. The fact is that I now NEED this money. If you have
been screwing with me all this time I will never forgive you. As for
the control number, I took the piece of paper they gave me at Western
Union, and I typed the control number into the email I sent you while I
was looking at that piece of paper, so it would have been impossible
for me to make a mistack. After I typed the email to you I destroyed
the evidence, as anybody who ever watched Perry Mason knows that is the
best thing to do.
Are you sure you can trust Okafor Davidson, your chamber boy? How do
you know he didn't keep the money himself and just tell you that
Western Union couldn't find it?
Please find the necessary $1000 right away and take care of releasing
those documents. I don't think the Apex Bank is going to wait much
longer. If you need to borrow the $1000, then do it.
Johnny Spinolli came to see me last night, and he brought Guido, his
muscle-man. He said he just wanted Guido to know which trailer was
mine. Laura Mae is pretty upset. Her family has had to deal with the
mafia before (some say that is who set Uncle Lester's ex-wife's Camaro
on fire), and she says she "knows enough to be worried". Please stop
screwing around and get this matter taken care of!
Sincerely,
Rasmussen
please go to western union and confirm this to them immediately also
confirm the control number
WHERE ARE YOU,I HAVE NOT HEAR FROM YOU SINCE YESTERDAY,WHAT IS
HAPPENING.HAVE YOU CONFIRM FROM WESTERN UNION OFFICE,THE CONTROL NUMBER
YOU SEND TO ME IS CORRECT,I NEED YOUR COMMENT.
DONALD
Dear Donald,
I am starting to wonder about you. Do you actually read what I send to
you? You have twice now asked me to confirm with the Western Union
office the control number that was used when I sent the money to your
chamber boy. Please read again and try to understand. I no longer have
the paper the Western Union clerk gave me. After I used it to type the
control number to you, I burned it so it could not be found later and
used for evidence. Did you not understand that the first time I told
you?
Your chamber boy has done you rotten, and he has done me rotten. If you
cannot squeeze the money out of Okafor, then you will have to come up
with the $1000 so that we can share the millions. I will not continue
to send money to Okafor. For all I know he may have a drug problem.
I saw Guido driving slowly through the trailer park last night. He is
trying to scare me I think, but instead of getting scared I am getting
mad. I borrowed Uncle Lester’s 357 magnum and it is tucked into my trou
right now as I type this.
If this has all just been a trick on your part to try to separate me
from my money, then I feel sorry for you.
Regards,
Ras
Dear Mr. Mark,
I am Barrister Gustof Von Beulow. I am the personal attorney to Mr.
Paul Rasmussen. I am sorry to have to report to you that approximately
one week ago Paul, his wife Laura Mae, and his three children,
Courtney, Alex, and Alex II, were tragically killed when their trailer
suddenly exploded. According to the sheriff’s office, it appears they
were storing too much gasoline too close to their water heater.
I am notifying you of this tragic event because I know you were a close
friend of Paul Rasmussen, and because Mr. Rasmussen modified his last
will and testament one week before his death. At that time he asked me
to change his will so that in the event of his death you would receive
$1000. He also asked me to, in the event of his death, convey to you
the following message: “Tell him to do the right thing by me”. He
assured me that you would know what that meant.
I have closed out the estate, and am prepared to administer the last
requests as specified in Mr. Rasmussen’s will. I have made out a check
to you for $1000 United States dollars. Before I can send this to you I
will need for you to send me three things:
1) Your complete name
2) Your exact mailing address
3) Some sort of identification. A scanned image of your law license
or your passport will do.
Please send these items via email at your earliest convenience. My
email address is: Divorce.Is.Our.Specialty@WesternCarolinaCenter.org
Please accept my condolences on your loss.
Sincerely yours,
Gustof Von Beulow, Attorney at Law
Acme Legal Services
Note: This guy is incredible. Even after my death he is still working the
same scam. As you can see below, he did not appear to understand the
letter from my lawyer which offers him $1000.
I AM VERY SORRY FOR THE SAD NEWS,I HAVE PAID THE $1000 TO OBATIN
AFFIDAVIT FROM COURT AND I HAVE SUBMITT THE DOCUMENTS TO THE BANK.
I AM WAITING FOR YOUR CONFIRMATION THAT THE MONEY HAVE HIT MR PAUL
ACCOUNT, THEM YOU WILL SEND ME SMALL MONEY TO COME OVER TO YOUR COUNTRY
FOR THE SHARING OF THE MONEY.
THANK
DONALD
