Eclair OrdersEclair 6.4 brings key enhancements tothe Orders module. As more hospitalsand community laboratory providersimplement electronic orderingsolutions, Sysmex’s expertise inproviding eOrders to our customershas allowed us to continue to improvethe Eclair Orders module to meetcustomer needs and the variedworkflow requirements.A list of ‘unactivated’ scheduled ordersand previous resulted orders is nowpresented at the start of the orderingprocess. This makes it simple to repeatexisting or previous orders if required and also provides a quick listof current order activities. New orders can now be created byrepeating an existing order rather than creating a new order fromscratch.Similarly this can be done from the Collection Room module. Theexact same order can be quickly re-ordered for the patient or ifchanges are required it is easy to edit the order and change or addtests and details.New Collection Management Module - Managing HospitalInpatient collectionsA new module has been created to streamline the management ofhospital inpatient specimen collections. The hospital inpatientFigure 2. New Collection Management moduleworkflow is different to the out-patient/community environment andthis module has been designed to allow phlebotomists or clinicalstaff to access outstanding orders in Eclair and easily manage thecollection process.Three tabs are available in this module: Pending Collections;Previous Collections, Overdue Collections.Pending Collections: The user can search for pending collectionsper location, e.g. a specific ward. Optional search fields help refinethe search and include: patient ID; encounter number; orderingdoctor; priority; fasting status. The order list can be printed prior tothe collection round. When each patient order has been collected, they are selected and flagged in the list at which stage the forms

are printed and the HL7 order message generated. Orders can alsobe cancelled, amended and rescheduled.Previous Collections: Lists all previous collection as a summarytable of the collection rounds in date order.Overdue Collections: Lists all orders that should have already beencollected. This ensures that no orders are lost.Collection Room Module - Community Patient CollectionsThe Collection Room module has been enhanced to display allorders matching the scanned order that were originally placed forthe patient.patient demographicscurrent active encountersscheduled and/or repeating orders along with scheduleddates;diagnoses, allergies and alertsmedical information.Sites are now able to control the report viewing actions available tousers within the Eclair report frame, e.g. bookmark, print, download, reassign etc.Orders that have been amended since the original order are nowhighlighted in blue and a mouse-over provides an explanation. If asplit order had been created (i.e. more than one form) and thepatient only presented with one form, these enhancements willensure the phlebotomist is aware of all test and specimenrequirements for the original order plus any test adds andamendments to that order. This ensures accuracy in the test collection processand avoids the need to recall the patient if testing has been missed. The Patient RecordFigure 3. The patient record with enhanced detailsEclair now displays all pertinent patient information at a glancewhen the patient record is first accessed. The patient details tab now immediately displays in the report frameinstead of report help. The details include:

Observation Data Entry FormsObservation data entry forms have been enhanced to include fieldsthat are gender specific. This change means that different forms can be made for males andfemales with different age ranges, e.g. for use creating growthcharts etc.Figure 4. Example growth chart data entry form

Clinician's Enquiry and Report SignoffImprovements have been made tothe search functionality withinClinician's Enquiry.Search functionality is now spreadacross two tabs - Search and SavedSearches. The Saved Searches tab makes itsimpler if you often need to make thesame searches.Figure 5. New patient lists for clinician's enquiryCreate, edit and delete customised searchesSpecify that results for the search appear as a report counton your Home page web partsSee at a glance, any new patient reports assigned to youfor review. In the past the Clinician's Enquiry search functionality displayed thelist of patients in the report tree. The patient list can now bedisplayed in a grid-like format if preferred, which makes it easy tosee which patients have unaccepted reports for review. Reportstatus highlighting is used to indicate normal, abnormal and interimreports.Improvements have also been made to the way auto-accept works. The system will no longer automatically advance to the next reportin the tree when a user clicks 'UnAccept'. This allows unacceptedreports to be reassigned to another user if required and preventsthe next report being automatically opened before the user is ready.Additionally, Eclair now recalls when a report has been autoacceptedthen unaccepted. This will prevent the report being autoacceptedwhen displayed by the person it has been reassigned to.

Viewing reportsYou can now use hotkeys to use the keyboard to access certainfunctions on the result display pages as well as the mouse, e.g.Bookmark, Refer, Print. The help icon describes the access keys.A new option has been introduced that will automatically collapsedispensing events in the report tree when it is first displayed. Thismakes the report tree uncluttered and easier to locate significantclinical data within a patient record.AuditingInterfacing with External SystemsWhen creating an order in Eclair via MedTech or Houston PMS, youno longer have to reload the patient via a search when you clickcancel. The patient details now remain in context and you can viewresults or restart the order as required.Chrome, Firefox and SafariThe full functionality of Eclair Orders is now supported in Chrome,Firefox and Safari web browsers in addition to Internet Explorer. The sequence of audit trail events is now better defined. Audit trailfunctionality has been enhanced to improve accuracy in the order ofevents. This improvement has been made by sourcing all loggeddates and times from the database server rather than the localserver. This means the sequence of events can be guaranteed. Also, audit records are now maintained for all activity on scheduledorders. The order form is stored at each stage of the order, creation, amendment and activation. The audit trail can be viewedwithin the Collection Room module. When the order has beenactivated and removed from the Collection Room view it can thenbe viewed under the History tab in the report tree. This detailed audit trail of the collection process enables traceabilityand improves accuracy. For more information about Eclair 6.4 or for a product demonstration, please contact us.www.sysmex.co.nz/Eclair
