He is responsible for leading the <strong>Business</strong> <strong>Development</strong>function, which develops and executes strategies to create, shape and capture newbusiness for <strong>Boeing</strong> Defence <strong>Australia</strong>. Prior to this position, <strong>Nichols</strong> was the seniormanager of Strategy & <strong>Business</strong> <strong>Development</strong> for the Integrated Logistics, Defence andGovernment Services, and Tactical Derivate Aircraft divisions of <strong>Boeing</strong> Defence <strong>Australia</strong>.During this time, <strong>Nichols</strong> has lead a restructure of the <strong>Boeing</strong> Defence <strong>Australia</strong>’s<strong>Business</strong> <strong>Development</strong> organisation, revitalised the national corporate strategy andfocused new business growth.In this time, <strong>Boeing</strong> Defence <strong>Australia</strong> has successfully secured several majoraircraft and C4ISR sustainment contracts and is actively perusing a growth strategy.Previously, he was involved in expanding the scope of its Army Aviation Training andTraining Support contract, and establishing a strategic partnership with Thales for theLand 121 Phase 4 campaign for the <strong>Australia</strong>n Army’s future acquisition of lightprotected mobility vehicles.Other positions <strong>Nichols</strong> has held within <strong>Boeing</strong> Defence <strong>Australia</strong> since joiningthe company in March 2006 have included program manager for Engineering andTechnical Services, <strong>Business</strong> <strong>Development</strong> Manager for Sustainment Operations and


Training, and Proposal/Training Operations Manager for major tenders related toDefence Communications and Land Systems.Before <strong>Boeing</strong>, <strong>Nichols</strong> held several roles within the <strong>Australia</strong>n Defence Force(ADF), serving in a variety of operational artillery units and senior army headquartersorganisations. While he was executive manager of Defence Capability <strong>Development</strong> forthe <strong>Australia</strong>n Army’s Training Command, he received a commendation for exemplaryperformance for the introduction of new capabilities into the ADF and was arepresentative on several senior major acquisition and capability committees.<strong>Nichols</strong> holds a Graduate Diploma of Resource Management and Diploma ofTraining <strong>Development</strong> from the <strong>Australia</strong>n Army, a Diploma in Applied Linguistics –French from the <strong>Australia</strong>n Defence Force School of Languages, and an AssociateDiploma of Personnel Administration from the Royal Military College, Duntroon.
