V.B.Tharakeswar 10511. This Sanskrit text, edited by Hiralal Jain, is published inMumbai’s Jaina Grantha Mala Series-9 in 1917. In thisintroduction Jain also mentions another work byChavundaraya but it is not available. Based on this text (i.e.Veeramattandi, which is not available today) Todarmal haswritten a text called SamyaJnana Chandrika in Hindiaccording to Hiralal Jain.12. Vachanas literally mean ‘sayings’ with no metrical restrictionof any sort or any prescription. They were composed and sungmainly in oral form. Only after a gap of 2-3 centuriestextualization of vachanas happens in the form of editedanthologies, where the vachanas are arranged and linked withthe comments by the editor into a coherent narrative.15.
