In spite <strong>of</strong> her age, she h<strong>and</strong>ledher paddle with <strong>great</strong> address, <strong>and</strong> used it vigorously,as occasion required, to repress <strong>the</strong> gambols <strong>of</strong> threechildren, who, to Hennepin's annoyance, occupied<strong>the</strong> middle <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> canoe.
