Operating PrinciplesThe <strong>Dynamitron®</strong> works on the same principle as a television tube but with a high acceleratingvoltage : from 500 kV to 5 MeV.1 Electron SourceElectrons are generated by a heatedfilament in an electron source.122Beam TubeA voltage gradient draws theelectrons away from the sourceand accelerates them through anevacuated <strong>beam</strong> tube.33Scan WindowAs the high voltage <strong>beam</strong> ofelectrons passes from the <strong>beam</strong>tube through the san magnet, anoscillating magnetic field sweeps the<strong>beam</strong> back and forth across the scanwindow.06 DYNAMITRON®
