In 2004 we celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the National AcademicAdvising Association (NACADA). NACADA, chartered in 1979,grew from the first national conference on Academic Advising held inBurlington, Vermont, in 1977.In this booklet and throughout the 2004 national conference we recalland honor:• Charter members whose foresight and dedication created thisassociation and nurtured it through its infancy.• Conferences that provided the “community” needed forexploration of current issues and a professional network formembers.• Growth milestones of the association as it expanded to addressthe needs of our members.• Volunteers who contributed time, energy, and guidance to thework of the association.• Important issues of yesterday that seem to be equally importanttoday.• Leaders who have guided the association through its manytransitions and who will continue this vital work into the future.Please join us in personally thanking the many individuals who havemade NACADA a vital association.
