CONFERENCE RESULTSConference RESULTSNine Conference Titles Claimed by Floridain 2012–13A league-record of eight team titles led theUniversity of Florida athletics program to asweep of the 2012–13 Halifax Media Group’sSoutheastern Conference All-Sports titles. It isthe 13th time the Gator program has taken thethree titles and UF is the only school to collectall three in a single season.Florida claimed SEC titles in men’s basketball,women’s cross country, gymnastics, soccer,softball, men’s swimming & diving, women’s tennisand volleyball. That equaled the league record oftitles in a single season set by Florida in 1991–92and equaled in 2010–11. Georgia also turned ineight league wins in 2005–06. The Gators now own52 titles since the 2003–04 academic year, the mostby any conference school during the 10-year span.One other conference crown was won by theGators in 2013, as Florida’s newest team claimeda share of the American Lacrosse Conferencecrown in 2013—the third consecutive ALC titlefor the four-year program.The overall SEC All-Sports title is the 23rd forFlorida, while the Gator program also earned its20th women’s and 17th men’s titles. UF has wonall but three of the last 26 overall titles.This was the second year for the Halifax MediaGroup to award the SEC All-Sports Trophy. TheNew York Times Regional Newspaper Group gavethe awards from the 1994–95 through 2010–11seasons. Prior to that, the league tabulated theSEC All-Sports totals.10Ten SEC or ALC Playerof the Year/Athlete ofthe Year awards wentto Gators in 2012–13.SoftballMen’s Swimming & DIVINGFlorida is the onlyleague school to passthe double centurymark in total SECtitles. This appearance markedthe first time in school history that the same headcoach had taken Florida to six-straight Regionals.The Orange and Blue exploded for 10 runs on eighthits in the sixth inning to break a 4-4 stalemateen route to a 14-5 victory over No. 8 South Carolinaon April 13. Junior right-hander JonathanCrawford was named to the NCAABloomington Regional All-Tournamentteam after limiting Austin Peay to onerun and four hits over 6.1 innings.He led Florida with 69 strikeouts in86.2 innings and was tabbed as theSoutheastern Conference Pitcherof the Week after firing a two-hitshutout to blank No. 11 Mississippi.B. Sophomore Johnny Magliozzi wasamong the Southeastern Conferenceleaders with 12 saves, one shy ofmatching the school’s single-seasonrecord, and the righty finished 4-2with a 2.67 ERA. He also limitedopponents to a .213 batting average.C. Outfielder Harrison Baderearned a berth on the SoutheasternConference All-Freshman Team,making it all six years of KevinO’Sullivan’s tenure that a Gator hasmade the squad. Bader led the clubwith a .312 batting average and wasa team-leading 15-for-21 on stolenbaseattempts.D. Sophomore outfielder JustinShafer was 4-for-8 (.500) overFlorida’s two outings at the NCAARegional, highlighted by a three-runround-tripper in the sixth inningversus Austin Peay that had movedthe Orange and Blue in front by a3-1 score. In the elimination gameagainst Valparaiso, he went 3-for-5with singles in the third, seventh andninth frames and finished the yearwith a .300 clip.E.
