Local elementaryschool teachers provide us with children’s first namesand shoe sizes, after recognizing that they are in needof new sneakers. Student-athletes and the UAA staffthen pick a name or two and purchase a new pair ofsneakers for that child. Before the fall semester is over,student-athletes play “Santa” and deliver the shoesto each school in the program. The program has beengoing on for 11 years, since 2001, in the past five yearsincluding 2012 we have given 2,268 pairs of shoes.This past year alone we gave 475 pairs. Thanks to allthe people who have participated in the Gators Tracksshoe drive and helped make it a success.Frank V. Oliver, Jr.Endowment FundFrank V.
