Local elementaryschool teachers provide us with children’s first namesand shoe sizes, after recogniz<strong>in</strong>g that they are <strong>in</strong> needof new sneakers. Student-athletes and the UAA staffthen pick a name or two and purchase a new pair ofsneakers for that child. Before the fall semester is over,student-athletes play “Santa” and deliver the shoesto each school <strong>in</strong> the program. The program has beengo<strong>in</strong>g on for 11 years, s<strong>in</strong>ce 2001, <strong>in</strong> the past five years<strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g <strong>2012</strong> we have given 2,268 pairs of shoes.This past year alone we gave 475 pairs. Thanks to allthe people who have participated <strong>in</strong> the <strong>Gator</strong>s Tracksshoe drive and helped make it a success.Frank V. Oliver, Jr.Endowment FundFrank V.
