<str<strong>on</strong>g>Haflinger</str<strong>on</strong>g> weltausstellung 2010Very quickly I want to return to <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> bloodline allocati<strong>on</strong>s; I have describedfor you <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> bloodlines as developed in Tyrol, but <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> picturechanges slightly when c<strong>on</strong>sidering <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> whole world. In terms <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> worldwide <str<strong>on</strong>g>Haflinger</str<strong>on</strong>g> breeding, <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> N-line hasn’t seenmuch <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> a change. 1988 had 313 stalli<strong>on</strong>s, 1995 was 312 and 2004was 306. Internati<strong>on</strong>ally, <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>refore, <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> N-line is very c<strong>on</strong>stant. Areversed picture is seen with <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> A-line where it trended upwardsinternati<strong>on</strong>ally: 1980 saw 133 A-line stalli<strong>on</strong>s, <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>n 304, 395 andtoday 465; nearly three times as many today while <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> N-line simplyremained <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> same. Internati<strong>on</strong>ally, it should be our goal to preserveand sustain all seven bloodlines as much as possible with absolutepurebreeding. My deepest thanks to all <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> exhibitors for this beautiful presentati<strong>on</strong>that is shown to us here. I haven’t menti<strong>on</strong>ed all <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>m, butra<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>r just a few <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> our internati<strong>on</strong>al guests, but <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> course our ownTyrolean breeders and owners are very important and dominant inthis collecti<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> progeny. Am<strong>on</strong>g <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>m is <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> stalli<strong>on</strong> Noweit fromLienz from <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> Winkler barn: thanks to him as well. Maier Hansiwas also here with ano<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>r stalli<strong>on</strong> in <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> ring, and now is here withNewstyle in this Get <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> Sire. The stud farm Nauders is also representedby Siegfried Spöttl and his stalli<strong>on</strong> Nemo, al<strong>on</strong>g with Nihilistfrom Längenfeld stud farm with Reinhold Hausegger and Nikorafrom Reutte stud farm with Klaus Kurz. Our Tyroleans here are representativesfor all breeders who wish to propogate <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> N-line fur<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>rand show <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> next generati<strong>on</strong> after Nordtirol, acknowledgmentfor <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>ir efforts. That brings us to our next presentati<strong>on</strong>: <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> youth stalli<strong>on</strong> champi<strong>on</strong>ship.We will now see all <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> youth stalli<strong>on</strong> champi<strong>on</strong>s from<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> following categories: yearlings, two year olds and three yearsolds. We have said that we aren’t just presenting <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> winners butalso <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> reserve winners, so in <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> row you will see now winners andrunners-up; above all with <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> three year olds this overall result isimportant. This here is our next generati<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> breeding stalli<strong>on</strong>s, ournext generati<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> perhaps future champi<strong>on</strong>s and reserve winners atworld shows that must first prove <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>mselves at breeding. Withoutproving that <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>y are <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> best stalli<strong>on</strong>s for breeding, <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>se horses willnaturally not appear at <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> next show. They have to first undertakebreeding, and in breeding <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>y must dem<strong>on</strong>strate, <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>y must show, that <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>y have earned a champi<strong>on</strong>ship positi<strong>on</strong> and show in <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> futurewhat older stalli<strong>on</strong>s have shown and proven today. The developmentto become a breeding stalli<strong>on</strong> still waits to be seen.Right in fr<strong>on</strong>t is <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> yearling stalli<strong>on</strong> champi<strong>on</strong>, Novemberschnee.I’ve thought a little that Novemberschnee in english translati<strong>on</strong> hisname would be Novembersnow is a symbol for this <str<strong>on</strong>g>Haflinger</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>World</str<strong>on</strong>g><str<strong>on</strong>g>Show</str<strong>on</strong>g>: when we began <strong>on</strong> Wednesday, it was <strong>on</strong>ly 7 degrees Celsiusand <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> May snow came down from <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> mountains to us. We had ahorrible start, but that <strong>on</strong>ly made today more beautiful. This stalli<strong>on</strong>is here from Michael Gurschler from Sölden – a ski destinati<strong>on</strong>,hence <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> name Novemberschnee – that may also act as a symbolicname for <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> breeder. Names aren’t always arbitrary with breeders;sometimes <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>y have a meaning behind <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>m. The November snowin Ötztal is very important since ski seas<strong>on</strong> begins in November, for which <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>y need snowfall in November. We need a stalli<strong>on</strong> likeNovemberschnee for <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> future <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>Haflinger</str<strong>on</strong>g> breeding and I believethat it is also very, very important that we have Novembernebel, a<str<strong>on</strong>g>Haflinger</str<strong>on</strong>g> Pferdes<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> stalli<strong>on</strong> Nordtirol that was recently seen as <strong>on</strong>e <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> thirdgenerati<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> this champi<strong>on</strong> stalli<strong>on</strong> that stands for world champi<strong>on</strong>quality throughout generati<strong>on</strong>s. Here we are already advanced fourgenerati<strong>on</strong>s: not just Nabucco as grandfa<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>r, <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>n Nordtirol as <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>dominator with his progeny, not Novembernebel, shown to be <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>sec<strong>on</strong>d best Get <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> Sire, but <strong>on</strong>e generati<strong>on</strong> fur<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>r with Novemberschnee. One can already see with this yearling <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> w<strong>on</strong>derful effortlessnessthat this horse radiates, and yet also possesses enough body.As we’ve already said many times, a horse may not be too light; a<str<strong>on</strong>g>Haflinger</str<strong>on</strong>g> should not look like a greyhound, thin and under-nurtured,but ra<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>r in beautiful physical harm<strong>on</strong>y, with a lovely physicalbuild. This young stalli<strong>on</strong> is a very promising model and I’m happyto have had this yearling bred by Michael Gurschler <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> Sölden herewith us in <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> yearling stalli<strong>on</strong> herd. In <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> sec<strong>on</strong>d positi<strong>on</strong>, born andbred here at Fohlenh<str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g>, is <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> champi<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> two year old stalli<strong>on</strong>s,a stalli<strong>on</strong> who may very well be <strong>on</strong>e <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> last <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> Amadeus’ s<strong>on</strong>s.Amadeus unfortunately passed away two years ago, but though heis not himself with us today, we have his 78 <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g>fspring and Amedi is<str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> his last generati<strong>on</strong>, his last progeny that we see here today. Bornfrom <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> mare Ravella, his head is perhaps a bit too arabian, but <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>rest <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> his body, his neck, his l<strong>on</strong>g wi<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>rs are superb; see here <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>close c<strong>on</strong>firmati<strong>on</strong>, and <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> l<strong>on</strong>g, muscular croup, here is <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> appropriatemechanics <strong>on</strong>e should see in a two year old. All toge<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>ra very charming horse and an appealing young stalli<strong>on</strong> with a lot <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g>hope for <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> future. As a spectator, <strong>on</strong>e should also observe <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> following: that is <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> differencein expressi<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> sex between stalli<strong>on</strong> and mare! With <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> young animals this is not yet as dominant as it must be later.Naturally <strong>on</strong>e should be able to discern a masculine expressi<strong>on</strong>, buta young <str<strong>on</strong>g>Haflinger</str<strong>on</strong>g> stalli<strong>on</strong> w<strong>on</strong>’t appear to be a full-blown typical177
