<str<strong>on</strong>g>Haflinger</str<strong>on</strong>g> Pferde <str<strong>on</strong>g>Haflinger</str<strong>on</strong>g> weltausstellung 2010presented as a symbol for all o<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>rs. This is <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> stalli<strong>on</strong> Nordtirolwith his progeny that have been chosen as best in <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> world. I thinkit’s really something special when a stalli<strong>on</strong> with 65 <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g>fspring ispresented in a world show; 65 horses that are good enough to be at<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> largest horse show in <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> world and for nearly all <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>m to bec<strong>on</strong>sidered class Ia.As I said, a stalli<strong>on</strong> with that many quality <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g>fspring is certainlysomething special. Altoge<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>r <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>re were 25 entries that we saw. Thiscollecti<strong>on</strong> is an example for <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> o<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>rs. There were many groups thatcould have been named <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> winner; <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>re were many groups thatcould have been named reserve winner or third place. There werevery few groups who had no chance at going home with a ribb<strong>on</strong>.That is also <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> sign <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> a good family <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> mares and <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> breedability;<strong>on</strong>e realises that <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>re is no end in sight when <strong>on</strong>e sees all <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> horsesin <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> arena, all <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> s<strong>on</strong>s and daughters <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> first stalli<strong>on</strong> abovein <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> exit. That <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>y all bel<strong>on</strong>g to <strong>on</strong>e family is c<strong>on</strong>firmati<strong>on</strong> that<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> success <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> breed is genetically ensured with this purebred<str<strong>on</strong>g>Haflinger</str<strong>on</strong>g> stalli<strong>on</strong>. There is still no end in sight, still more countlessmares are coming in, not just from Tyrol but from <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> wholeworld. Am<strong>on</strong>g <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>m are, for example, Robert Glauser from Switzerlandwith Nordwest, Frank Smeltink with <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> stalli<strong>on</strong> Nordsee from<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> Ne<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>rlands, D<strong>on</strong>ny Verkammen from Belgium with his stalli<strong>on</strong>Noreia, Jean Stockemer from Luxembourg with Newlook, Anderss<strong>on</strong>Thorné from Sweden with <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> stalli<strong>on</strong> Nachtmann, Neidhartfrom <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> Ne<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>rlands, Gerhard Berger from M<strong>on</strong>aco with <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> mareRelie, Norb Schumacher from Luxembourg with his mare Pascal, and many more from various regi<strong>on</strong>s in Austria... So <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> progeny<str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> this stalli<strong>on</strong> are really spread all over Europe and <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>y will bearhis name out into <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> world and throughout <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>Haflinger</str<strong>on</strong>g> world.Nomen est omen: North Tyrol w<strong>on</strong>’t just be c<strong>on</strong>sidered <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> cradle176<str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>Haflinger</str<strong>on</strong>g> breeding and Fohlenh<str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> Ebbs in North Tyrol w<strong>on</strong>’t justbe <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> world center <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>Haflinger</str<strong>on</strong>g>s, but Nordtirol (in english NorthTyrol) is also <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> name <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> stalli<strong>on</strong> who w<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>World</str<strong>on</strong>g> Champi<strong>on</strong>Get <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> Sire with 65 <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g>fspring. I think that each <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> 65 horses herecan feel a little like a world champi<strong>on</strong> in <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>ir own right, since <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>ybel<strong>on</strong>g to <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> collecti<strong>on</strong> headed by <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> stalli<strong>on</strong>, as fa<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>r, that is herepresented to <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> world as <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> overall champi<strong>on</strong>. In total, Nordtirolhas 65 horses, two best <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> class winners, four reserve winners forbest <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> class, two third place winners, four fourth place winners and<strong>on</strong>ly 6 horses who were categorised in class 1b. That means that over90 percent were placed in class 1a, from which <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>re were 8 horsesthat are going home with special awards. This presentati<strong>on</strong>, for me, is <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> most beautiful <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> show review.Seeing all <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> progeny <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> stalli<strong>on</strong> and looking down <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> line at<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>m; simply taking <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> time to look at each individual animal andlook at <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>ir type – <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> horses are nearly all <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> same. One hears so<str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g>ten from laymen “how can you tell <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> horses apart, <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>y all look<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> same,” because for a layman, all <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>y see are a chestnut horsestanding 1.47 m tall with a white mane. But here we are all experts, and as experts we look at <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> heads, examine <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> coat color, look at<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> fundament: you will see that Nordtirol can be distinguished from<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> o<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>rs. One can <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g>tentimes see <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> fa<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>r, even when <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> mare’sline is <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> dominant influence, but <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>re are also dominant fa<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>rsand <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>se dominant fa<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>rs are also <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> future <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> our breed. Thanks to all <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> breeders who have brought <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>ir mares and stalli<strong>on</strong>sto take part in this huge collecti<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> Get <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> Sire. I believe thatthis is <strong>on</strong>e <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> most beautiful presentati<strong>on</strong>s and when we reallyreflect <strong>on</strong> this, <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>n we will realise that it is exactly this <strong>on</strong> which wecan count worldwide; namely, <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> dominant fa<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>r animal with anoverall excellent progeny that has expanded throughout <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> world.
