The CertificatePrograms can help students attain their career goals in a short period oftime (some programs require as few as four to six courses!). ThesePrograms also provide opportunities to continue on to obtain an associatedegree in the same or related field of study.*Some of the advantages of enrolling in a program instead of remainingin non-matriculated status include:1. potential eligibility for financial aid;**2. academic counseling to help students plan the next step in theireducation and/or career; and3. students will receive certificates promptly after successfulcompletion of their program.The programs listed in this brochure are available days and/or eveningsas noted. To apply for a program, simply complete and submit thecertificate application, located in the back of this brochure, togetherwith a $10.00 non-refundable application fee, to the Admissions Office.Be sure to review the certificate program listing for additional documents that may berequired. More specific information can be obtained by calling the AdmissionsOffice, the individual indicated on the program page or ContinuingEducation.Please note: students must apply for and be accepted into a program toreceive their degree, diploma or certificate.* Contact the Admissions Office for additional information. Upon completion of the basic accounting certificate,students will have sufficient skills to obtain jobs as accounts receivableclerks, accounts payable clerks, accounting technicians, bookkeepersor payroll clerks. Upon completion of theadvanced accounting certificate, students will have sufficient skills toobtain jobs as full-charge bookkeepers or junior accountants. The BasicAccounting Certificate must be successfully completed in order to receive theAdvanced Accounting Certificate.Although students completing the advanced certificate will have thenecessary background to perform the tasks of a full-charge bookkeeper ora junior accountant, students should be aware some employers will requirethe completion of an associate degree to be considered for employmentin these job categories.
