The program combinesgeneral education courses and nursing courses. In the nursing courses,classroom and clinical instruction are provided concurrently.The nursing program is approved by the New Hampshire Board ofNursing and accredited by the National League for Nursing AccreditingCommission (NLNAC) (61 Broadway, NY, NY 100<strong>06</strong>; telephone 1-800-669-1656, ext. 153). Graduates are eligible to apply for the NationalCouncil Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN®.They are prepared to administer nursing care to individuals of all ages andin a variety of health care settings.Three program options exist at the Associate Degree level: (1) DayOption; (2) Evening Option; and (3) LPN-ADN Upward Mobility Option.Both day and evening students may be required to do an alternate clinicalrotation depending on clinical/faculty availability, i.e., day students may be asked todo an evening rotation and evening students may be asked to do a day rotation.All nursing courses must be completed within four (4) years of thedate of entry into the first nursing course. Transfer credit will depend oncourse content, applicability to the nursing program, grade earned andlength of time since completion.Admission to the nursing program is very competitive. Selection is determinedby a cumulative point system that is based on high school level prerequisite coursesand grades, applicable college courses and grades and the NLN score. Students will not be considered for admission until alladmission requirements have been met.1. High school or college biology with lab AND chemistry withlab, both with grades of “C” or higher;2. <strong>College</strong> preparatory algebra I with a grade of “C” or higher or<strong>NHTI</strong>’s MT 103 and MT 104 both with grades of “C” or higher;3. New for Fall 20<strong>06</strong> applicants: Minimum “All” score of 50 ineach section (verbal, mathematics and science) on the NationalLeague for Nursing Pre-Admission Examination-RN (NLN);• tests taken between September 2003 and May 20<strong>05</strong> may besubmitted and the previous scoring method (minimum“composite all” score of 50) will be used;• if a student who took the test between September 2003 andMay 20<strong>05</strong> wishes to retake the test, the score and scoringmethod used in the selection process will be the one mostadvantageous to the student;• students who took the test prior to September 2003 or whohave not yet taken it must take the test no later than theJanuary 21, 20<strong>06</strong> testing date and will be evaluated on the newscoring method;• priority consideration will be given to candidates who completetheir NLN requirement no later than the January 21, 20<strong>06</strong>testing date AND submit the balance of the required applicationdocuments no later than February 3, 20<strong>06</strong>; applicants are permittedto take the NLN exam only once in any 12-month period; whenretaking the test students must take the entire test and will not be permitted totake just the portions of the test on which they received a low score; informationregarding registration for the test may be obtained from theAdmissions Office at 603-271-7134 or 1-800-247-0197 or atwww.nhti.edu.4.
