We appreciate all thehelp, support, and encouragement from our fellow club members duringthe past two years of this adventure of going through the chairs at<strong>Bay</strong> <strong>View</strong>.As we enter <strong>2012</strong> I want to encourage members to remain active.If you are a newer member and have not found a committee that fitsyour talents please make us aware of how you could help us more. As of<strong>January</strong> 1, <strong>2012</strong> we have 250 active members. Four Active members(#145 Lorrie Dean, #172 David M. Seitz, #216 Jeff Kroncke, & #622Gary L Meyer) have transferred to Social status. We thank you all forservice, wish you well at your new endeavors, and will be grateful forany support in the future.Membership is not just the Vice Commodore's responsibility. Allof us need to promote <strong>Bay</strong> <strong>View</strong> <strong>Yacht</strong> <strong>Club</strong> as an Active Member andProperty Owner. When needed we should remind each other that everythingin side of the gate is ours, reflects who we are, and how we live.New Year – <strong>2012</strong> – Going to be challenges? Yes, there always is!They will be worked on and resolved by the members you have electedto your Bridge and Board of Trustees. I am looking forward to workingwith Woody Wlodarczyk-Board Chairman and the new Board. You haveentrusted in us the management of your property. I am sure I canspeak for all of us and say, we will do this to the best of our ability.December 2011 – a flash and gone! Judi & I have attended two<strong>2012</strong> Balls already (Toledo Sailing <strong>Club</strong>-Nov. 12 th . and Monroe Boat<strong>Club</strong> Dec. 10 th ) and only about 30 more to go. Thanks to CommodoreGreg Snyir and Lady Becky for a delightful evening. Chef Cummerow's smoky meat andR/C Michael Walsh's Potatoes & Veggies combined for a great meal! Lady Becky's special GiftPackage Cakes on handmade pedestal by Lady Judi made a delicious centerpiece as well asdessert. Greg & Becky's big surprise was the Maumee High School Show Choir. They wereFantastic!!! What a wonderful addition to a always great evening. Thank you Commodore Gregand Lady Becky!!! The Children's Christmas Party was so well attended we had to set up severalextra tables and chairs. Thanks to Jolene Wagner ,Sue Kroma, and other Auxiliary membersfor providing such nice snacks and activities for the children of <strong>Bay</strong> <strong>View</strong>. Santa was on timeand he made the party more exciting for the kids. Bill Edens and his staff went to work takingpictures – creating memories! Thanks, Santa and Bill! The Rest of the month should be thesame for all of us – Family & Friends – Christmas – Presents – Blessings!!!!!New Years Eve at the <strong>Club</strong>. I hope we were all well enough to be there. If you were I bet Igot either a dance, hug, kiss or all three (from the female gender of course)! Again, I want to thank the Membership for giving me the honorof serving <strong>Bay</strong> <strong>View</strong> <strong>Yacht</strong> <strong>Club</strong> as <strong>2012</strong> Vice Commodore and I amlooking forward to my new responsibilities as membership chairman.There are some members that I have spoken with and they do have a lotof interesting ideas as to increasing the membership. If anyone else hasany more, please contact me. I am looking forward to working with RearCommodore Mark Gensler. We’ve already had a meeting with CommodoreRogers and Fleet Captain Scott Kneisel to set a calendar for the upcomingyear. BAY VIEW NASCAR WINNERSThe 2011 NASCAR Sprint Cup season is over and the <strong>Bay</strong> <strong>View</strong> NASCAR awardshave been presented to the winners.Tony Stewart is the champ. He defeated Carl Edwards in what I believe was the closestcompetition in any sports season ever. At the end of the Chase the two were exactlytied in points. The championship was decided by the most wins.The <strong>Bay</strong> <strong>View</strong> champ this year is Tom Kroma. He was our points leader for 30 of the 36races. Ron and Sue Crane finished second, ten points out of first. Steve Cummerowcame in third. Scott and Tina Belknap were our top rookies this year, finishing in fourthplace. Doug Berry was fifth. Doug did really well, he also was our Chase winner(accumulating the most points in the last ten races of the season) and won the mostraces, 6.Ben Davis got the Kyle Petty award for the contestant who competed in all the racesand accumulated the least points. He was also presented with a special award for hisinnovative picks in the last six races. He received a 99 cent NASCAR billfold and awooden nickel for his efforts.I am currently working on the packets for <strong>2012</strong> and they should be behind the bar inmid <strong>January</strong>. I will try to be at the club on meeting nights and Saturday afternoons totake your entries. Proposed Constitution updateThis proposed constitution change was originally submitted by the Constitution Committee at the regular meetingheld on 7/13/2011 and was signed by Brandon Smith, Woody Wlodarczyk, Don Wachter, Frank Lopes, P/C LeeOmey, Commodore Greg Snyir.The first reading was on 7/13/11 and was open for amendments and discussion. Discussion Followed. There was amotion and second received to table this proposed change until a committee of Past Commodores had a chance toreview these changes. More discussion followed and a vote to table was taken and passed with only one opposingvote cast. With this action all dates will be pushed back accordinglyThere was a motion and second to bring off the table the Proposed Constitution change pertaining to theCommodores duties at the regular meeting held on 11/9/2011. Motion passed. This will resume asthe first reading and is open for discussion and amendments. There was a motion and seconded toamend the proposed Constitution change to read.Article 9; section 1; Commodores duties.It shall be the duty of the Commodore to preside at the meetings of the club and to enforce the regulations ofthe <strong>Club</strong>. The Commodore shall appoint all committee chairmen with the approval of the majority ofthe members of the Board of the Trustees, including committees appointed by the Vice Commodoreand Rear Commodore. The Commodore will be exempt from membership dues during their term. TheCommodore will act as <strong>Bay</strong> <strong>View</strong> <strong>Yacht</strong> <strong>Club</strong> ambassador to the world, promoting, protecting, and encouragingboating for pleasure and sport. Discussion followed. Vote taken on the amendment, motionpassed. The second reading will be at the regular meeting on December 14 The third reading and votewill be at the regular meeting on <strong>January</strong> 11, <strong>2012</strong>.
