96 Grow<strong>NGV</strong> <strong>Annual</strong> <strong>Report</strong> <strong>2003</strong>/<strong>04</strong>The Felton Bequest was determined to make theCentenary year memorable for both the <strong>NGV</strong>, andthe many beneficiary charities supported by its work.On 22 April, the Felton Bequests’ Committee andPhilanthropy Australia hosted an event in honour <strong>of</strong>Alfred Felton and the Centenary <strong>of</strong> his Bequests. Theevent was held in the <strong>NGV</strong>’s Great Hall adorned by aplaque in honour <strong>of</strong> Alfred Felton.Philanthropy Australia commended the FeltonBequests’ Committee and ANZ Trustees for theirmanagement <strong>of</strong> the Bequest’s charitable grantingstrategy and investment strategy respectively. Workingtogether, the Felton Bequests’ Committee and ANZTrustees have been able to make an impact on thecommunity <strong>of</strong> Melbourne and increase the longevity <strong>of</strong>the funding provided by Alfred Felton’s initial donation.The evening comprised a number <strong>of</strong> moving speechesrecounting the influence <strong>of</strong> the Felton Bequest’sfunding on charitable organisations and projects acrosschild welfare and education. The <strong>NGV</strong> was honouredto be involved in this event, providing a link betweenAlfred Felton’s passion for art and his contribution toMelbourne’s charitable sector.The Felton Bequest has continued the tradition <strong>of</strong>acquiring and donating artworks to the <strong>NGV</strong> into itssecond century.
