<strong>NGV</strong> <strong>Annual</strong> <strong>Report</strong> <strong>2003</strong>/<strong>04</strong> Grow 93SponsorshipThe <strong>NGV</strong> Sponsorship Department is dedicated toidentifying potential funding sources and relationshipopportunities within the Australian corporate sector.The Sponsorship team works closely with all <strong>NGV</strong>departments to develop strategies and proposalsfor corporate sponsorship <strong>of</strong> <strong>NGV</strong> exhibitions andprograms. Their role is to present partnership conceptsand business cases to companies, aligning <strong>NGV</strong>benefits with corporate objectives including brandawareness and hospitality. Once the relationship isestablished, <strong>NGV</strong> Sponsorship also manages theagreement, providing sponsors with benefits andprivileges. We are extremelygrateful for the wonderful generosity <strong>of</strong> all our donors.The highlight <strong>of</strong> the year was the magnificent gift to the<strong>Gallery</strong>, and to the people <strong>of</strong> Melbourne, by our Patron,Dr Joseph Brown AO OBE <strong>of</strong> the Joseph BrownCollection—Australia’s largest and most generous gift<strong>of</strong> 19th and 20th century art.<strong>2003</strong>/<strong>04</strong> saw 44 new memberships <strong>of</strong> the Foundation.We were delighted to have the opportunity to arrangea special lecture on Titian by visiting <strong>National</strong> <strong>Gallery</strong><strong>of</strong> London curator David Jaffe and to organise specialviewings <strong>of</strong> Charles Conder 1868–1909 and Darknessand Light: Caravaggio and his World for Members.
